I bought this item for our breakroom so employees that use the patio have a place to hang their coats. Our Maintenance Tech assembled it for me. It took about 20 minutes. All the parts were included and it went together easily. The base is cast iron and the rack is pretty sturdy but maintenance glued the hooks in to add more stabability since it will be used by 15 people. Lots of room for many hats and coats. It's a great rack for the price. I'd denfinately by this item again if we need another.

Beware of FT Furniture

The coat rack looked quality online, but the treading stipped out when I tried to put it together. I have never had any issues with other sellers on Amazon, but when I requested for a refund the seller refuese at first saying he will mail out a part. When I said I don't trust in this product enough to keep it, he said I would have to pay for the return shipping and he needs pictures for proof. 6 pictures and a couple of stern emails later the seller sends me a return lable. During this whole thing the original box fell victim to me dog so i got a simular box and sent it back will ALL parts. Then the next thing I know the seller decides he he was going to charge me a 50% restockig fee on top of the shipping charge so I got back %12.50 on a $43 Dollar purchase that was defective. I filed a claim aganst this company and I hope Amazon Makes this right. I would stay clear of this seller at all costs!

This stand came with a parts list and diagram of what went where but no instructions. Here's the order I recommend assembling in (not an expert, just what worked for me). Photos in the Customer Photos section, labeled Step 1/2/3.

STEP 1: Single-curved metal rods through first wooden piece into second, secured by screw-ended pegs. Upper wooden piece cracks easily, be gentle with it if you can. Keep the two wooden pieces separated as you insert each rod, rather than trying to pull them apart after the rods are in -- it's a very snug fit so separating after the fact is hard.

STEP 2: Insert the double-curved metal rods. The target for the screw-pegs is harder to hit on these -- pick a well-lit area to assemble in so that you can peek through the holes to make sure they're lined up. Use a bit of the included glue before you push the ornamental wooden balls onto the ends of the rods.

STEP 3: Assemble the middle piece. The metal rods here aren't screwed in, just pushed in with a bit of glue to secure them. They fit tightly, but I don't plan on putting anything heavy there...

STEP 4 (not shown): Attach the bottom rod to the stand base using the bolt and washer. This is the only part that requires actual tools (a screwdriver to get the bolt tight). Do this before you put the three vertical pieces together so you don't have to wrestle the heavy base and the tall stand at the same time.

STEP 5 (not shown): Assemble the top, middle, and bottom sections. Guide the metal connecting sheathes a bit with your hand as you tighten to keep them lined up so they look nicer. Screw in the top piece by turning the metal rod in the top center, not the wooden part with the hooks.

Overall, not bad, glad I bought it -- loses a star for the crack that the upper wooden piece acquired during assembly plus the only-glued-in lower hooks, but so far it's doing its job just fine.

This hat/coat rack must be assembled. Took me about 15 minutes. Base is made of what I believe to be cast iron, which adds to it's being stable. The remainder is solid wood and chrome-plated-metal. Ample room for many hats and coats. Should last for many years. I would recommend to anyone needing a rack. I would buy again!

Received this in a flimsy box with no packing slip. There was no bubble wrap or foam to protect the base. The base was not as pictured. It was stone, maybe granite. Due to the poor packing, the base was broken in half when it arrived. I have emailed the seller, and am awaiting a response. I am hoping to get a replacement base so I don't have to return the entire rack. Mailing the base alone will be quite costly due to the extreme weight of the granite piece! The poles were metal with a laminate covering, and the hooks were plastic! It was absolutely nothing like the description!!!!!

But one of the metal large arms wouldn't fit in the wooden slots, so I had to try to bend it, and by doing this, I broke off part of the wood. Anyway, I put this together in about 20 minutes, and it is really cute, but I wish it had arrived in better condition for putting it together. I love having a hat rack, and I really like how there are so many "arms" for things to hang - proper instructions would probably be helpful too; it arrives with a photo and that' all you get :)

Just what I needed! It was missing one part. (Part K, hoping it will be sent soon). But overall I am thrilled! Easy as pie to put together. I was tired of taking up closet space with all my handbags. Believe it or not I never even used all of the hooks and there is room to spare. Could even hang hats on top!

What do we expect when we buy build-it-yourself furniture in a box that the UPS guy tosses onto our front stoop? Yeah, it's junk. It's cheap. Check out my annotated photos of how mine broke during assembly. But, it is quite functional. The base is as heavy as Pilgrim's burden before he reached the cross!
