Do not buy this product if you intend it for use in ladies' zip up riding boots, especially bespoke boots or those made in Italy. The boot shapers have a very straight shape, whereas most such riding boots are 'fitted' and curve around the calves. The end result? They don't fit! Besides, the seller does not explicitly say so, but WILL charge you money if you return it. Terrible purchase!

So, frankly, only people who care about their shoes and boots would spend the $ for cedar shoe trees/boot trees, but they're totally worth it. Plastic does help hold their shape, but cedar gives the added benefit of absorbing perspiration, etc. This seller was great - fast service. Product was impeccable.

My girlfriend picked up some nice riding-style boots in a shop and it's hard not to notice when she wears them... they are very eye catching. Anyways, after a few months I noticed that they seemed to be showing some signs of wear and looked into ways to preserve their quality. She has been loving these inserts ever since I gave them as a gift.

The two small downsides were the packaging and the loose nature of the metal joints. It's not like these things are traveling very often though, so I don't think the looseness is a major downside.

I returned this item because it was not keeping my riding boots standing up like its supposed to and in shape. Also I could not adjust like you would to keep the boots stretched and in shape and it was a let down. I still haven't find one that is good. There is a metal one out there but is is around two hundred dollars.

It would be nice if they were spring loaded or had a better range of adjustment, but they are not. The brass handles pulled out of the cedar the first day of use. Overall a rather poor product that cannot adjust to most boots, they just kind of lay in them. Sure they keep the uppers from falling over, but thats about it.The cedar is an excellent idea, The product simply needs a complete redesign. Add a spring loaded mechanism to allow for greater adjust-ability, use a better handle. Hell just look at some of the plastic ones and copy their adjustment but use cedar on the outside and you'll have a million dollar product. As it stands now I simply cannot recommend these and returned my set after the first day.

These are a waste of money! Not tension-mounted, arrived splintered in a damaged (inside) box (not USPS damaged- shipping box looked fine)- overall disappointment. These will be going back, and I very, VERY rarely return things. LOVE my Woodlore shoe trees but these are thoroughly horrible.

Not every online purchase can be five stars, I guess. Well packaged, but very slow to arrive. Too wide to keep a good shape in a narrow, tall knee boot. One side is built longer than the other, with about six inches of metal bar between two hinges. No way to tighten down these hinges with a wing nut and fix it in place, so it ends up just hanging there by gravity, but it does stop the boot from folding over and wrinkling. If I hasd to do it again, I'd probably just use a cardboard tube! Plan to sand the wood in the spring to try and bring out the cedar smell, which isn't very fresh or strong.

I recently got a very expensive pair of python cowboy boots and am committed to caring for them very carefully. I bought these thinking they would be highest quality, but also bought a pair of expanding tension adjustable/moldable plastic shapers. These expensive cedar things are totally worthless. I should have known better as there were other comments about them not fitting into boots or being adjustable and I thought can't be. But in fact tis true. They do not fit (I wear a mens size 9) and are not in any way adjustable. Unfortunately not worth the hassle to return (things aren't as easy as they used to be on ebay) so will probably just throw them away or use them as firewood.

Don't make the same mistake I did - DO NOT BUY THESE THINGS!
