Dishwasher safe is extremely convenient feature to me. Cleanup after the use is as simple as a cycle of dishwasher. Cleanup of motor house surface is still needed, but that's much easier than the whole slicer. Now I am free from the possibility that any surface touching food could be contaminated by germs at next usage.
I admit that the slicing performance is not the best. Slicing ham or roast beef at 1/8 inch dial works reasonably to me, but it is not really razor sharp cutting edge. This is good for occasional home use and never meant as any kind of professional tool. That actually matches to the price.
I could have rated as 3 or 4 star from purely cutting performance. However, I don't find any alternative product with dishwasher safe feature, I cannot rate other than 5 star. If I find another product with dishwasher safe and better cutting performance, I may probably pay up to double of the price.

Do not waste your money on this piece of junk. I purchased this meat slicer in November of 2012. I used it three, maybe four times with each successive time it running slower. In December 2013 when I needed it most it stopped running all together making a grinding sound. I took it apart and the plastic gears were worn away rendering the machine useless.
