This is my second DECT phone purchase. I had a 4-phone (2 base stations) V-Tech system, mostly purchased through Radio Shack. Poor battery performance; a typical charge lasted only about 6 hours in standby, and we got about 1.5 hours of talk time. Also, they didn't have nearly the claimed range.

However, these Uniden phones have good range and battery life. I can go out to the back yard and have at least three bars. I left the phone off th charger all night, and the battery indicator stll says it's full and that's after making 3 short calls.

It's definitely waterproof, and call quality sounds great. Perfect for convenience, though my wife is getting tired of me using the intercom to call her from the pool, and great for safety.

Could have been easier to pair with phone base. Took four tries.

One downside with this, and my other Uniden cordless phones, the wired phones ring twice before these do, making it tough to grab the cordless before it goes to voicemail.

Overall, happy with product.

I got this for Christmas last year. For a while we used it outside by the pool since it is supposedly "waterproof". Never got wet, worked ok and range is good.

5 or 6 months ago the battery went out on my other cordless phone (cheap-o V-Tech) so we promoted this one to primary usage, not just outside. Long battery life and clear signal. Kind of ugly yellow in my kitchen but it worked so wife was ok with it. (the V-Tech phones would never keep a good charge on the battery so she liked that this one lasted a long time)

Fast forward to yesterday. The phone rings, I pick it up to answer and nothing happens. The "registration" (ie = paired connection) to the base has failed. Got on Uniden's website and tried everything they suggested. Unplugging base, pressing the find button, holding # on the phone. Registration always fails. Pulled battery and let it sit. Fails. Manually de-register and try to re-register. Fails.

Today I called Uniden phone support. 30 minutes on hold and I finally get a lady on the phone. She walks me through the same steps 3 times, registration keeps failing. She checks the serial number and says it's out of warranty, sorry can't help you. I pulled the battery out of the phone for recycling and the rest went in the trash.

Just ordered a new cordless phone on Amazon today. Panasonic. I will not own another Uniden product.

The cheap-o $25 V-Tech phone at least lasted 3-4 years. This barely made it 1 year.

I shopped around for WEEKS to find this phone - It is the NEWER model of the original phone which I had for many years, and that went through so much abuse I am surprised it survived. I finally found this phone which is WATERPROOF. There are no exposed battery connections like on ALL other rechargable handsets - THIS phone charges the battery by INDUCTION - a coil in the base & phone couple together so there are no external contacts to get dirty and cause intermittent connection. The battery will last you over 5 years, and is easily replaced - it is a standard headset battery. The speakerphone is loud (but not as loud as the original phone I have) - and I guess it's a trade-off with battery life. You can add more handsets and this is great if you have a big house or office. THIS PHONE WORKS GREAT WITH MAGIC JACK or MAGIC JACK PLUS - definitely a great phone.

So this is a waterproof phone huh?? Well, Im the type of guy that buys stuff and tests the boundries the manufacturer/retailers claim. To make it short; I got my phone and charged it to make sure it worked. I work from home and I had 3 bars left on my battery ( without a charge yet; basically full ) on my 2nd day. Keep in mind that I don't ear rape people all day and have a phone growing out of my ear like some off you people. Not like "you people" ..j/k

anyway..

I fully charged it and made a call then I immediately threw in into my pool ( b/c I test stuff and that's how I roll ). I wasn't even drinking and it floated up like it was mocking me. I think the phone works better now than before I chunked it in the H2O. top notch...top notch!!!

Im getting another just for the hell of it.

This phone has a nice construction for the price. It has a rubber casing, making it a little more durable for the clumsy users.. It seems a little tall compared to other cordless phones and possibly a small bit heavier.So far, I've had no troubles from the phone.

Got this phone to connect to my OOMA TELO. As you see it works fine in this instance. Sounds clean but had to up the volume. The default phone ring is not really to my taste, but there are others that you can choose from. Though the phone works, I had trouble pairing the base to the range extender DRX100. I'll keep on trying but it may not be needed because I the phone seems to maintain 3 bars in the pertinent parts of my home. Also, there is a 'FIND' button on the base that pages the handset. This button works erratically for my setup. This may also explain why it has not paired with the extender.

This new WXI3077 replaces a six year old WXI477, an older version of the same phone. The old phone, installed in our barn, malfunctioned (leaving the phone line "off hook" even when the phone was turned off or left sitting in the phone base).

First impressions of this new model are very positive. The handset is still rugged, water and dust resistant, and the display is brighter. The incoming/outgoing voice quality is good. Ringer set at top volume is not as loud as the old WXI477, so still not sure if that's going to be a problem or not.

The only real deficiency I've discovered in the new model: The charging base doesn't have the mounting holes on the back side so it can be hung on a wall using a standard wall/kitchen phone jack like the old WXI477. I have to find some other way to secure the base to the wall, or else move the phone jack so the phone base can sit on a shelf or furniture.
