Excellent helmet. I rode all my life in Troxels, and had Ovation recommended to me recently when I was looking for a new one. I decided to give them a shot, and find this helmet lighter, more attractive (due to the nice low profile) and more comfortable than my previous helmets. I'm very happy with this purchase. I also know second-hand that this helmet does its job: a friend of mine was wearing one when she was thrown from her horse, and he stepped on her head in the ensuing confusion. The helmet is horribly broken... But her head is not. Well made, Ovation.

I love this helmet, very comfortable and easy to adjust to the right size. I was worried about buying a hat without trying it on, but have no problems. It doesn't look too huge either, which is great! For reference, in old measurements, my hat size was 7 1/4, I bought the medium/large in this model and it fits fine. Great value for money

I was looking for a new schooling helmet to replace my Troxel Legacy. I wanted something low profile, lightweight, and comfortable. I was looking at the new Troxel Liberty & Intrepid. I have a very small head and the troxels were too big- even size small- when I put them on, they came all the way down to my eyebrows. More padding could have raised it, but they looked rather large on my head. I saw the Ovation- it is a similar design- but actually even lower profile. It does not come down as far, and comes in the XS/S that I really need. It is comfortable and doesn't make me look like a mushroom head. There is a lot of mesh in the lining to keep you cool in the summer (go with the Ovation Extreme if you want coolmax lining). The only thing I dont like about it is that the straps are a little wonky- they are attached to the outside part of the helmet- not the inside like the Troxels- so when adjusted and buckled, they kind of twist in and touch my face in just one spot, which I don't really like. Hopefully this will go away as it gets broken in. Otherwise, great helmet at a great price!

The difference in bulk between this and other schooling helmets out there is very apparent the minute you pull it out of the box. The construction of the helmet is top quality. It adjusts easy and does not overheat your head. Would recommend to anyone wanting less bulk on their head during lessons!

I measured my head, checked the Ovation size guide and ordered a size small. It fits perfectly! I ordered this helmet for several reasons, one of which was the adjustable fit, another was the washable interior. It is a very sturdy helmet, and it looks great. Love it!

My head circumference is 22 inches (hat size 7). According to the manufacturer's website, this lies right between the small/medium and medium/large sizes. I ordered a small/medium, but it was a mistake. The helmet is much too tight and gave me a pounding headache after wearing for 10 mins. If your head size is between sizes, I recommend ordering a size up rather than down. I liked the matte black color and it's light-weight, low-profile construction. However, the buckle kind of dug into my chin too much. There is a cushioning wrap thing for the buckle, but I found it really finicky and it falls off too easily.

I ended up returning the helmet for the Troxel Intrepid instead.

Great helmet for the money! My 11-year-old daughter (shows the A circuit) has been schooling in this one for a couple of years... "several" falls later, it's still holding up and fitting great (though we should probably replace it at this point--I'll definitely buy another Ovation!) High-tech looks, safety, and comfort for a reasonable price!

This is my second Delux Schooler Helmet. My first one met an untimely end when I took a nasty fall, down the side of a mountain, off of a running horse. It is a long story how that happened but the important information is that I walked away from my accident with just some pumps and bruises thanks to my first helmet. It ended up with a giant dent in the back where I impacted the rocky path. That is why I bought a new one here.

I also must mention that this helmet is very comfortable and true to size. The measurements given are the exact sizes of the helmets. This helmet does not feel bulky or floppy or too hot. I am very picky on the comfort of my helmet. This one meets my standards. The price is also good.
