I have two of these and two String Swings (the competition). One of my FretRests is 6 years old and the mount was made from real wood. The newer one, 3 years old, is made of wood grained plastic, but you can't really tell unless you look real close. The foam has held up well on both so far. I don't use the little foam rings that are included for thin neck guitars even with my electric guitars (see my photos above). The foam rings are unnecessary in most cases and just kind of get in the way.

I personally prefer these over the String Swing, they seem more solid, and I like how the hanger rotates freely to fit non-symmetric head stocks. The bracket on the String Swing can be bent a bit to better fit different size necks, but I have used the FretRest successfully with guitars ranging from my Ibanez electric, to classical acoustic.

When it comes down to it, both are good products, and both work well.

I now have 6 guitars hung up on my wall. Two basses, three six strings and one seven string. These hangers are secure, easy to install and having the guitars on display and readily accessible has totally revived my den. They look great and it's way more functional than pulling them out of their cases every time or having a bunch of floor stands cluttering up the limited space in my den.

I wish I had done this earlier, the product seems very sturdy and they do what they are supposed to do.

You kind of have to angle the neck when you pull a guitar out or put them in which means they can't just fall out which is good. No problems with the weight of the bass guitars or the wideness of the Ibanez S7420 neck.

I own more than a dozen. They fit everything, including 2 baritone and 1 bass ukulele, a mandolin, a banjo, a Gretsch 12-string, several Les Pauls and Strats, and several other acoustic and electric guitars, including a heavy Fender bass, They are super-easy to install and are very strong when installed correctly.

Well-made, discrete, and won't damage your instrument. These have been hanging my guitars for years and are no worse for the wear.

The most significant thing that I can tell comes from a lesson learned the hard way. The drywall mounting screws within the package are of much better quality than what is available at my local hardware stores. I suggest you try and not be careless enough as to break and or lose them.

As an avid guitar collector, storing my guitars is very important to me. I was looking for a wall suppose system to use that I knew would work well. I had been at Guitar Center and they recommend these to me. Guitar Center was twice the price at the time so I went to Amazon for purchasing. The come with the hanging materials. They are very sturdy and I have not had any issues with them. I installed them into wood studs.

I now have four of these wall hangers for a variety of guitars (acoustic, classical, 12-string, and electric), and each guitar hangs with enough space from the wall. They are very sturdy, easy to install, and do the job perfectly. If I had to nit-pick, my only complaint would be that the classical guitar's wide neck fits a little snugly, but it doesn't take much effort to remove it. If/when I get another guitar, I will definitely buy another one of these wall hangers!

I did not use the anchors that came with these mounts but the units hold the guitars without any problems. I would recommend them. Keeps the guitars neatly hung and off the floor, and I can still remove the guitars easily whenever I need to.

Great Product. Holds guitar well and I trust it completely. My son, sanded and stained a a 6" x5' piece of pine board and attached the board to the wall studs in his bedroom. He then mounted the FretRest to the pine board. The pine board was not necessary as the rest can be mounted into a wall stud or drywall (depending on the weight of the guitar). Good product reasonably priced as compared to guitar center.
