These cymbals are great and they have excellent sound for what I was specifically purchasing them for. The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is because the finger straps to hold them onto your fingers are not secure or fall out completely. Otherwise these are great!

Though I am not personally a belly dancer, I have heard from others that these finger cymbals are too thick and heavy to control easily while dancing. Though this is the "thin" model, they are still far thicker than the more generic finger cymbals on the market. That being said, these have a great sound and are beefy enough to cut through other sounds. The metal has a rough texture, which is good for adding friction to help make the cymbals ring/clap against each other, though that has the drawback of increasing the likelihood of accidental sounding while rubbing (compared to perfectly smooth cymbals).

From the time I started belly dancing in the mid-1970's, I heard about Zildjian cymbals, but never tried them. Although my first zils were one-hole, I was persuaded that the control of having two slots was better. And it is, for some things. But these zils (two pairs of the regular ones, not the dancer set) are wonderful. I find I can play faster on them and the little bit of instability in the single hole adds to the speed and gives another range of sounds. The tone is balanced and attractive. They do have a distinct, mellow sound. I have zils that I would prefer in a stage setting or when playing as a musician because they give a greater variety of quality tones, but the Zildjians are also pretty good in range of tones. For just dancing these are, at least for the time being, my zils of choice.

These don't make a sound and there were no instructions included. Are you supposed to use the cheap white bands?? I threw them out, as they were loose and not secured. I shouldn't have to Google these or look up Youtube instructions on how to play them, as that is too involved and time-consuming. Boy, what a waste of money!!

This is one of the best sets; heavy, sturdy and great for kid or adult use. I live in Hong Kong and they sound great; especially if you are teaching Asian music and don't have indigenous cymbals for a particular country.
