Okay, so I admit I've been using this for only a short time now, but long enough to do a fairly accurate review. Our beloved Siberian Forest Cat readily lapped this extremely palatable chicken/turkey flavored liquid up in the first couple of days but has now lost his appetite completely as I've learned our beloved felines will do with advanced stages of kidney failure. :-(

Although he's no longer eating ANY food at all on his own...dry or canned cat food, kitten food, freshly cooked poultry, chicken broth, baby food...we've tried it ALL...we're able to gently syringe-feed him this liquid diet. (Try CalVet supply dot com for VERY pocketbook-friendly pricing for a variety of syringes amongst abbott-made RF or Renal Failure products...their prices are truly AMAZING! $5) So between this and Nutri-Cal (or its generic sister EnerCal), we find ourselves counting on these products to keep our precious kitty from crossing over to Rainbow Bridge for as long as humanly possible.

We had three kitties, two of them older male orange adoptees, only a month and a half ago. We lost one on June 18th to kidney disease and we're now (July 30th) losing a 2nd one to the very same thing. If you're looking at this stuff, like me we both know it's absolutely heart-wrenching watching this happen. My husband and I are so broken-hearted, but every last moment our baby-cat can be here with us is priceless right now and he's thriving on this...

***** IMPORTANT: Other reviewers I'm sure are correct in that it is extremely perishable. I cannot attest to this however, only because of the WONDERFUL reviewer Rays of Hope's suggestion!

I have two 19 y.o. feline boys. Both with kidney disease. Only one really loves this. The other guy is just true to his finicky nature. Always has been. I keep Clinicare RF in stock and feel some peace knowing it's there. If needed I will syringe it into their mouths. Hopefully it will never get to that. This keeps the weight on and his appetite strong. Be sure to get RF, orange can, if your cat has kidney disease. The other blue can for dogs/cats isn't for kidney disease creatures.

I bought a few cans of this for our 19yr old cat whos kidneys are failing. As a last resort.
The vet gave him no hope. Raggs will lick this up on top of most foods that he likes.
He is at that very finicky stage now.So anything he eats is great.
Also it is turkey flavored not vanilla! Ive never had a cat
like anything vanilla.
I have found out you can freeze it. I put it in an ice cube tray and freeze it.Then put the cubes in a
freezer bag. Put them in the microwave for about 25 secs. and they come out fresh just like when
We first opened the can.
if you have an old cat I would recommend you try this.

I run a non-profit shelter for injured, disabled and special-needs cats. We have had a 24-y/o in end-stage renal failure for 4 years. Along with her daily fluids, she gets CliniCare RF 2-3 times a week. I heat it a bit and she loves it. It provides extra nutrition as well as extra hydration. My vets cannot believe she is still going so strong and doing so well.

My eldest cat (14 yr young) really enjoys this product and I feed it to her daily at meal times before her regular food.
I have noticed it really is beneficial in helping to keep her weight maintained/improved and also helps keep her hydrated as well as help soften her stools. Please note, you do need to keep it refrigerated once open, I pour the can into small jars to maintain freshness. Also please be advised that one of the easiest ways to feed this is to offer it with the use of eyedropper vials. I just suck up the liquid and my cat comes to lick the dropper as I slowly dispense by gently squirting. I repeat this as needed. Then be sure to thoroughly wash the eyedropper out with water and if need be pop off the rubber top and swab with a q-tip.
I love this product and it generally costs less if you buy multiple at once with shipping discounts and then costs even less then my local pet supply stores. I do recommend this product!

We have spent a lot of time and heartache trying to help our CRF kitty, Chase, with his illness. Recently Chase’s labs came back almost normal. His creatinine levels are only a point above normal. We have had blood work done on Chase every 2 - 3 months, ran trials with only changing one medication at a time or removing them completely and this is what has worked the best for us -

Definitions/uses of medications:
Clinicare RF - Mostly fats, some minerals, I used it as a cream base to mix his medications in and to keep weight on. Be careful not to over fed the Clinicare RF, Chase stopped eating his dryfood/wetfood when I gave him too much and this lead to upset bowls. Clinicare is costly, but you can get it from https://www.calvetsupply.com/, for a discounted price and free shipping.
Cosequin - Joint supplement, used for arthritis also helps urinary issues – Chase has both (not costly, readily available)
AminAvast - Reduced Chase’s creatinine levels and also helps with coat luster… This used to be called RenAvast. The FDA shutdown RenAvast because they could not prove the claims for use as advertised. Because of this I took it out of Chase’s routine for 2 months. When we went back for another round of tests, Chase’s creatinine levels had skyrocketed and he was put on fluids. I started giving him the AminAvast again and his levels are almost normal. Somewhat expensive, but many websites offer it.
Azodyl – The only medication that I have found to reduce Chase’s BUN. However, there have been numerous peer reviewed articles stating that this benefit is not conclusive (but it worked for us). This is expensive, and must be refrigerated. Best deal I could find is on Amazon.com, a 4 pack for ~$200.00. If you receive it warm, it is useless.
