I bought this to use with an Epiphone Les Paul, an almost 10 pound, solid body guitar. Ten pounds doesn't sound heavy until you're carrying it on your shoulder for an hour. I considered a cheaper, non-leather strap but decided that comfort was critical factor. Let's face it, if you're in pain, you're not going to want to play.

Here are my initial thoughts after a week of use (~8 hours):

-COMFORT-
I'm glad I chose a leather strap over a nylon strap. Even though I can feel the substantial weight of the guitar, the strap does not dig into my shoulder. The 2.5 inch width makes a difference as well since the weight is distributed over a broader area.

-LOOKS-
This strap makes you look like a serious player. If you're spending a few hundred dollars or more on a decent guitar, why cheapen the overall look by not having a nice looking strap? Nylon straps look like they belong on a plastic Guitar Hero guitar. There other straps that are more "designer" but this has a subtle professional look to it and doesn't take the attention away from the guitar.

-FIT-
Although this is adjustable, I found it comfortable on the shortest setting since I wear my guitar high (I'm 5'8). Part of it is because I'm not a guitar pro so I still need to look at the frets from time to time. Also, I was able to put this through the guitar buttons with no problem.

-DURABILITY-
This feels like a thick, sturdy leather belt. I've only used this for a week but it seems like it would last a generation.

-RECOMMENDATION-
If you're using acoustic or other light instrument, you can get away with non-leather strap; it won't look as good but functionally you'll be fine. If you want to look like a pro, have a sturdy strap literally do some heavy lifting for you, and have a $20 budget, buy this!

The guitar strap is beautiful, very much as pictured. I am 5'11" and this strap at its longest is just right for me. I do not wear a guitar low so if you are taller or wear a guitar very low you might want to look at longer strap. But this strap is perfect for me.

The outer part of this Levy's strap is a very smooth finish with perfect stitching around the perimeter. My only complaint is that it does indeed shed--A LOT--from the unfinished, tan-colored underside, but I believe I have remedied that by using blue painter's tape to "defuzz" it.
And the strap is quite comfortable. Overall, I'm pleased with it and would have given it five stars if not for the shedding.
Addendum: 6-20-13 This guitar strap is not holding up well on the underside. I do use it on average three hours a day, but it doesn't get sweaty. The stitching is still intact, but the underside resembles what I would describe as "compressed sawdust." I would not purchase this again.

I've been using Levy's 2" cotton straps (which run around $12-15) on my guitars.. however, I needed a strap that would work properly with Levy's wireless receiver holder, which is designed to mount on the thin leather portion of this style strap, so I picked one of these up. The comfort difference is huge; I had always considered the other straps to be comfortable, but this is far more comfortable. Highly recommend it - especially if you are comparing this to a decent-quality cotton or nylon strap, the extra cost isn't much. I'm planning on replacing the straps on the rest of my guitars with this.

This is a great value with some characteristics that I will get out of the way up front. First, the product features on this page - at the time of this review - claim that the adjustment range is from 30 to 53 inches. In fact the strap is 48 inches fully extended. This is not a flaw as much as something of which you need to be aware if you prefer a longer strap.

Second, while the 2.5 inch width is very comfortable, a slide on pad would have made this better because the leather is thin.

On the plus side, the leather seems to be very high quality and is finished beautifully for a strap in this price range. The top is smooth, uniformly black and has a fine grain. The underside has a tan or light brown rawhide finish.

The holes easily fit the strap locks on the three guitars and bass that I own, and stay put. Also, the strap can be tightly rolled or folded to sit in the tight space inside my SKB hard case - this is a major plus for me because room is always tight and at a premium inside the molded cases that I use.

Overall this is an attractive and well constructed strap that is bargain-priced considering the quality of leather from which it is made. If you are on a budget and looking for a decent leather strap this one merits serious consideration.

I have quite a few leather straps from Franklin and Levy's, as well as some cheaper ones from various manufacturers. I needed a strap for my new SG and being aware of Levy's quality picked this one up, thinking it was a steal. Unfortunately, I'm not very happy with it. It's well stitched and the black finish looks nice but the inside feels like an old dry belt. It's a very thin leather so it's light but It's just not that comfortable and feels cheap. This one adjusts to a max 53" and can be adjusted down in 1" increments with 9 adjustment slots and 2 end holes, the shorter hole is 6" up from the end. Dunlop stap locks fit with ease. (highly recommended). Mind you, for 20 bucks I cant expect finished edges or a buckskin inside like the $30+ straps offer but to me this ones no bargain. A good quality Levy's strap is at least $40- $50. This is definitely their economy line.

To put it in perspective; this IS a step up form the nylon printed staps with the plastic connectors and the vinyl strap ends. This one wont break like the nylon ones. (the nylon strap portion doesn't break but the plastic connectors do) If you have a few extra bucks look into the Franklin Straps, their leather is much softer than this one and on sale can be found for maybe 10 bucks more than this one.
