I have two cats, one 6 and one 2 years old. Both are indoor cats in excellent health. I saw the negative review and talked to my vet about it. I've also asked a number of veterinary professionals what to feed my cats and they all answer the same thing: Science Diet. Sure, you'll see stories of how one person's cat had issues, but even if that's 100% true, it's 1 case out of millions. Science and fact aren't based on someone's experience.

So my point is, I love my cats and I'm very concerned about their health. I trust people who actually have medical degrees and experience with a wide range of animals. My only caution is do not fall for some hype or scare tactic that recommends some unproven or untested food or some fad diet for your pet. Don't listen to me, don't listen to the negative review. ASK YOUR VET what they recommend, and follow their instructions. My guess is you'll end up buying the Science Diet anyhow.

I am a veterinarian, with a strong interest in nutrition- so when I choose food for my two kitties, I tend to be a bit picky. I have tried many types of food, and I keep coming back to Science Diet Adult Light Hairball Control. They are both slightly overweight, and one has issues with hairballs- and this food helps them to maintain a healthy weight as well as reduces the number/frequency of hairballs. I have noticed a huge difference in the health of their coats (much shinier, less shedding) when they are on this food. That being said, the vet in me notes that not every cat does well on the same food, so make sure to find the food that agrees with them the most (talk to your vet if you need advice!). If you are not a fan of feeding corn products, then this isn't the cat food for you. Myself, I have no problem with it (corn can be very nutritious, and neither of my kitties have an alergy or other issue with corn). The price on Amazon is one of the lowest I've seen- my only concern ordering it was that it may sit in a hot delivery truck, but so far the bag has lasted and the food does not seem spoiled.

After about 6 months of cleaning up cat barf, lots of trips to the vet, changing litter 3 times and food about 8 times, I finally tried Science Diet Mature cat Hairball dry food for my 12 year-old Himalayans. They had always eaten SD Sensitive Stomach, but my male big boy started throwing more than just hairballs...yellowish thin stuff that required lots of scrubbing on the carpets.

This stuff really works! I read lots of cat food labels and reviews before I tried this, but nothing worked and I was getting suggestions that I should put my precious Sherman down.

Now he is happy and healthy again. I don't know how this food works, but it surely did for my cat.

Our cat was a stray that showed up at a friend's farm. He was in very bad shape...very skinny, lethargic, and his fur was very wiry! We got him on the mend with a visit to the vet and some antibiotics. But it wasn't until we started feeding him Science Diet that we noticed the change in his fur. It made such a vast difference! He has the softest fur I have ever felt on a cat! The Science Diet seems to help with the hairballs, too. It is a bit expensive, but it's worth every penny to me.

I have three very different cats, with very different tastes. The Science Diet adult hairball formula is one all three will eat without a fuss. They really like the taste, and have been eating it for years. Plus, it really works to prevent hairballs! I've tried many different brands, but I always come back to this one because I know it's high quality and they will eat it. If they ever stop making this particular one I'm in trouble, they don't seem to like the other Science Diet kinds!

This food is liked by the cats and does work. A new cat to our household was on this food. She came with a large bag. The old cat would sneak and eat a little now and then so I put her a bowl of her own out. She had a terrible problem with hairballs. No more! She is 18 years old and loves this food. She has lost weight and seems to be getting younger everyday.

This stuff really works. My Ragdoll kept throwing up all over the house - sometimes just bile, sometimes whole chunks of food mixed with hair, the works. (I know, gross, but I want to be detailed in case someone else is having this issue.) She has a clean bill of health from the vet, so I was at an utter loss as to what the problem might be. I realized she wasn't going to the bathroom very much and was just throwing up, so it occurred to me that perhaps her stomach was sensitive, as she was a dainty eater, and couldn't handle the fur build-up from her grooming sessions. After researching online and seeing that vets recommend this specific brand, then reading reviews on Amazon, I decided to go for it and ordered the 3.5lb bag to see how Blue did.

Wow. Drastic difference. I tried a slow transition from her old cat food to the Science Diet, but Blue wasn't having any of it. As soon as she realized I had mixed in the Science Diet crunchies into the old ones, she began picking out only the Science Diet and leaving the old. I finally gave up, ruing the money lost on the old crunchies, and now give her only Science Diet. She is more excited now for her hard food than for her soft food! If she hears me pouring her crunchies, she comes running.

Results after only a few days (unbelievably): Blue now eats with gusto and is using her litter box normally, so her digestion is definitely back on track. Her fur is softer and shinier than ever before, and there has been no more throw-up/hairballs since she began eating Science Diet. This was not a long transition, either - I started her on Science Diet May 12 and the change was immediate. Even my boyfriend, who was skeptical that it was working that quickly, had to admit to me a few days ago that it was undeniable how much obvious good it has done her.

Two thumbs way, way up.
