Just cleaned two Getzen trumpets and found that this was such a wonderful thing to have. Use a clean cotton cloth. (not washed with fabric softener) like a rag from a T shirt or cotton sheet, and insert one corner through the loop till secure, then twist around and downwards twice in a spiral (or more for valve casings, which need to be the size of an index finger in thickness), pull the rest of the cloth down to the handle to protect the inside of the instrument from the metal. Clean with a twisting motion, but only on the straight parts of tubing and slides. As the rag gets dirty, put on a new one.

This is cheap and worth the money to preserve your expensive investment...and to remove all of those bacteria and acids, etc.

The rod is sturdy. Very happy.
