Water leaks out from the area where the bottom spike screws in to the black collar. I put in the "20 day" flow regulator and the entire contents of the reservoir emptied in about a day. I tried to re-tighten the spike many times but it just keeps leaking. It is also unstable when the reservoir is full and has a tendency to fall sideways. I thought the side spikes would provide support but they just cut through the soil and tip over. It is a balancing act to get this to stand up when full.

Edited: I put some thread seal tape into the leaky threads (which was very difficult since the collar means both are interior threads) and that stopped the leaking. I then put it in my planter with the 20 day regulator and it emptied the reservoir in about 4 days. My planter's saucer overflowed. The plant is not happy. I'm throwing this out.

This does what I want it to do; distribute water to a plant (a schefflera that is about 8 ft high) over many days. I like the four dispersal rates. The only issue that I've had was one of balance of the water reservoir when it is full - I solved it by adding a support cord about half way up the reservoir that goes around the stem of the plant.

crappy item. should have listened to the reviews. top heavy and falls over every time. No room in plants pots to put such a huge thing. Kinda confusing to use. I do not recomend. tried to return but cant. so I am stuck with it.

It works as long as the tip doesn't get clogged, which happens often and very easily, especially with fine soil. A way to counter this is to use a piece of plastic wrap on the tip when you push it into the soil then remove the plastic by lifting off for a half a inch. But a better way is to re design so the tip is covered with hard piece of plastic that you just push down or pull a lever, and the cover retracts in or out , in would be easier!!!

I am testing the 20 day watering and is working quite well.
We have tried the holes in the cap of bottles and could not always get the method to work.
Love enough to purchase 3 more.

Well, I wanted to be lazy and water my potted citrus trees less often. So I bought some of these.
No matter which nozzle I use it has two modes, dump all the water overnight and overflow the pot, or drip so slow it hardly works.
It is also kind of wobbly in the soft soil in the pot. Gave it to a friend of mine who uses it as a backup for some bushes in his garden. It kind of works for him.

Sadly there is not an option for zero stars. I am another one of those who should have listened to the reviews. This thing is a real waste of money. I bought two of these for two different planters and they both work erratically - if at all. With exactly the same settings one empties in 4 days and one doesn't empty at all. I followed the simple instructions but they were insufficient. I called the company and the woman told me, "We know our instructions are not complete". (Company here is a suggestion - improve them.) The unit plugs up quite often when sticking it into the dirt - which is rather ironic considering you have to stick these into the soil. The unit is also very top heavy and bulky so getting it next to the plant and stable is quite a trick.

Not the worst product I have ever purchased but very close.
