I find this works much better then any cloth or silk swab. This was what I had years ago and it still is the best in my opinion. I do wish a comparable version were available for saxophones. However; from this I figured out how to make my own from a chamois from the auto parts department.

This came with my clarinet. It lasted about 1 1/2 months before it could be mistaken for as a rag with a piece of string attached. When cleaning my clarinet, it would leave residue inside. The fabric is such bad quality that little pieces of fabric come off and stay inside the clarinet. DO NOT BUT. Don't be fooled by the cheap price. Buy a silk Hodge clarinet swab,

It is a bit small but it seems able to clean the clarinet just fine. The fabric is kind of a foamy shamy, so I imagion it is very absorbant. Good replacent or even if its a first one.

The particular one is made of foamy material. However if I am willing to pay $1 more, I can buy one made of cloth. Overall, both types will serve its function (cleaning clarinets).
