At our house, we make a lot of mixed drinks, and have intentionally sampled most of the widely distributed tonic brands, including several of the premium offerings. We've tried: QTonic, FeverTree, Stirrings, 365 (Whole Foods store brand), Seagrams, Schwepp's, Canada Dry, Hansen's. Different tonics pair best with different gins, and the value has to be weighed, considering that some tonics can cost 30x more than others per oz.

There is always a value equation when making drinks, and you need to consider the total cost of cocktails, especially if you have drinks often, or host a lot of dinner parties.

Some of the options (Fevertree, Q Tonic are good examples) can be really expensive at ~$2 per 6.8oz bottle; that starts to get a little steep per drink. Suddenly two cocktails each for a group of 7-8 friends has added $20-30 in tonic water to your evening. The premium tonics are worth buying once to experiment with, and can be great options for "artisinal" cocktails, but they also have to be carefully paired with the right gin to really bring out their strengths. (Citadelle, a little more of a citrus-y gin, is a nice companion for them both, and it's a mid-shelf gin that is an excellent value.)

For everyday drinks, our go-to tonic is Hansen's. It's readily available in our area at Harris Teeter stores for ~$3 per six-pack of 8oz cans, so ~$0.50/can. 8oz is enough to make two G&Ts, and the flavor profile pairs really well with Hendrick's, our preferred G&T gin. Hendrick's is a top-shelf gin with a complex cucumber profile that pairs best with a lighter, less bitter tonic. This is where Hansen's excels. Add a drop of two of bitters, depending on your mood (rhubarb is a favorite, celery is another good option), and you've got one of the best G&Ts you've ever tasted.

It's my favorite alcoholic drink. I like the bitter taste of quinine and the sharpness of juniper. I don't like sweet drinks or fruity drinks, especially citrus. I'm not even rich enough to go for the top shelf booze. Unlike the other reviewers, I don't know what tonic goes with what gin. This much I do know: Seagram's goes with Hansen's to make a delicious G&T. It's bitter and sharp and not too sweet or fruity-- A lot of fizz and flavor-- perfect for me.

At about 60 cents a can and my gin at about $20 a bottle I can have a delicious G&T for about a buck. Not only that, Hansen's drinks are excellent: no caffeine, no preservatives, no fruit juice, no sodium, gluten free.

It does contain (from the label):
serving size 1 can
calories 80
total carbs 22
sugar (cane sugar) 20
pure triple filtered carbonated water, citric acid, natural flavors with extracts of California citrus, quinine.

The best tasting and best value natural tonic water available! I searched high and low for a tonic water that was neither diet type, and also did not have high fructose corn syrup, as all the available grocery store brands do. Trader Joe's has discontinued the sale of this nationally for some reason, so it is great that it is available from Amazon, as I could not find it anywhere else in New England. The taste is perfect alone or with gin. We use it with Hendrick's, Plymouth, and Gordon's gins, and it blends well with all. Our guests love it too, and now also buy it as their tonic of choice. Tastes great, one can is economical and perfect for one drink, and contains no objectionable additives. A win-win.

I've been experimenting with Gin and Tonics, but I wasn't thrilled with the high fructose corn syrup in the brands available in the grocery store. I calculated out the price per serving on this vs. the 10oz bottles of Schweppes I was buying and this comes out a few pennies cheaper plus no high fructose corn syrup. Maybe I could save more if I bought the bigger bottles of tonic, but if it goes flat before I drink it all that isn't really worth it to me.

I did a taste test with this and the Schewppes and two different kinds of gin (Bombay Sapphire and Seagrams). With both gins, this came out the winner, and the Hansen's/Bombay Sapphire pairing was my favorite of the four. I can't say if this would hold up as well against the pricier tonics like Fever Tree or Q-Tonic, but for now this does the trick for me.

Good product, but I am more thankful they shipped to me in rural Alaska. Had a couple casualties due to freezing weather, but that is not the retailer's fault. I am just happy to have some sort of carbonated beverage here.

If you need a bunch of club soda and don't want big cans or bottles, this is for you! The price is reasonable and having them shipped to my home is so nice. I was having to look around town for a 6-pack of club soda that didn't cost too much. I think this is a great buy. I can't really speak to the quality. It tastes fine to me, but I'm not a connoisseur.

Of all the tonic waters, I like the taste of this brand the best. Its great to be able to open the can each time fresh unlike the small or big bottles. I just wish they were still sold at my local grocery store. The only change I'd like to see is if they were in glass instead of a can but then they'd cost more.
