The wireless transmitter from Canon works wonderfully...if it wasn't so expensive and bulky. So I tether to the computer by USB when shooting in the studio. The downside is that the micro usb end connected to the camera is frequently getting bumped which interrupts the connection and shuts down the EOS shooting software. It only takes 10 seconds to reseat the connection and restart the program. When it happens every few minutes however; what a pain. And when the client is paying by the hour they really don't like to see me fighting with the equipment rather than getting the shots they're after.

A friend recommended this gadget, and for the price, I am very glad to have it in my kit. It's super simple to install, to use, and isn't permanently attached to your camera or your computer. The only downside is that the computer end will take up two USB ports on your computer; one for the usb sync cable and one for the tether. My computer side connection has never had a problem so I haven't been using the computer side tether...in order to leave my USB ports open for other accessories and card readers. It also has a quick disconnect from the camera which is great if you need to grab the camera off of the camera stand in a hurry. Actually, the tether seems to work pretty well when just walking around with the USB attached to the camera as well.

I still bump the cord and lose connection a few times a day in 10 to 12 hours of shooting. It never just drops connection when I move the camera anymore though so that's a huge plus. I have used the camera and tether together for about 1500 hours of shooting so far and maybe the USB port on the camera is looser than it used to be which is why this tool doesn't work perfectly for me and the connection sometimes is loose.

The USB connector works great, but I'm nervous I'll tweak my computers USB drive that it uses to secure it.

The camera connector is too loose at the 2-pronged clip and it unclips often with only minor tugs which defeats the purpose of a strain relief.

LOOKS LIKE a good little tether, but: A) Does NOT come with the USB cable pictured and B) Not worth twenty bucks more than a good cable tie. I'll use it, but not until C) WAITING for MORE PARTS to arrive. For $2.99 (retail), they could have included a little mini5 to USB female (perfect to connect to another cable that can be jerked away without damaging the camera). It sits on the shelf for now, incomplete. What you see is NOT what you get.

If you're a photographer shooting tethered, this is a must to avoid possible substantial costs for repairs on down the road. I learned the hard way. One mis-step while you are walking to get the shot and you can be looking at a $500 repair bill for your camera as it breaks the internal port. It works very well and even though there're some do-it-yourself fixes out there on YouTube that cost less, I like the quick click and go of this.

The Jerk Stopper which attaches to the camera works pretty well. The USB jerk stopper is kind of large and prevents me from plugging into the other USB port on my MacBook Pro, rendering it useless for holding the computer-end of the cable secure to the computer.

I bought the JerkStopper with my Tether Tools cable mostly because I am clumsy. It's already saved my camera twice. The USB port side popped right out and that little bit of slack that was in the loop kept me from toppling both my computer and my camera! A must have if you shoot tethered with any camera.

your better off using duct tape. The product is cheap plastic and it uses an empty usb port so instead of just ripping your power out you rip your usb out as well. the string on the camera mount broke the day I received the product. Good idea bad product.

If you tether to your computer while shooting, this is essential. An OOOPs here could destroy your laptop or camera, so don't take chances. Concentrate on making the shot and worry less about the equipment.
