Here are the dimensions of one hole: 2.75" x 1.5".

You can see it yourself if your item will fit. I have a golf umbrella and it fits perfectly. The stand is strong so there is no fear of toppling. The little well under holds dripping water.

Bought this to keep the stuff in my broom cupboard tidy. It takes those messy tubes from the vacuum cleaner and some brooms, etc and keeps them organized. The holes are rather small for an umbrella, but suit cleaning stuff perfectly as two things go in one of the slots. Highly recommended for this purpose, and I plan to get more.

These looks great and have a heavy and sturdy base but the holes are too small for compact umbrellas. Basically, if you make an "O" with your fingers and the umbrella can't fit thru, then it won't fit into the holes on the stand either. I kept these anyway for guests with slim umbrellas.

We needed an umbrella stand that didn't take up too much room as we use it near our back door. When it is raining, we take our dogs out while holding umbrellas and stand over them while they do their business. Yes, our dogs are spoiled. This stand worked well. It holds several umbrellas including a large golf one. (One of our dogs is half Great Dane.) It doesn't fall over and takes up so little area. Maybe not the most attractive umbrella holder, but certainly serves our purpose.

Bought this for use at the resort I work at. We have umbrellas for guest use which are thin - this holds them perfectly, and doesn't take up much space. However, some guests bring their own umbrellas, and this stand won't hold everything. If you look at the base in the picture, those "pits" hold the tops of the umbrella. This means the umbrella needs the pointy bit on top (called a Ferrule, according to Wikipedia - who knew?!) to stand up correctly.

If that's your umbrellas, this stand will work well. It does not tip over, either.

There are not alot of options on Amazon for umbrella stands, so despite other cautionary reviews, I ordered it. It is well made, but too darn small to be effective. That is, when I come in from the rain, I want a place to put the wet umbrella, and this stand is not it; once dry I can put or hang the umbrella anywhere. I will pay the shipping for the return (even though the openings are small, if the stand were taller I might keep it to organize other objects like the yardstick one reviewer mentioned, or dowels).
