I just bought this practice pad for practicing more often and quietly. I decided to buy this one instead of the "Gibraltar Gbdp Bass Drum Pad" because in the store where I tried them, the gibraltar one was pretty destroyed and seemed more fragile because of the material the batter part is made of. Also, it was a bit louder than the Evans. The "RealFeel" is far from "real", because the impact surface is pretty hard and feels like hitting a wall padded with rubber. Nevertheless the practice pad feels solid, it's easy to fold and carry, and serves my purpose of practicing everyday to develop my double bass drum pedal skills.

PS: I feel sorry for the guy from the previuos review that thought the practice pad came with the pedal. It is very unusual that evans would sell a pedal AND the practice pad for this price; I do believe the product description is clear. Maybe the product picture should be more clear and maybe show a transparent/grayscale pedal, or just the bass pedal practice pad.

This is a good way to get your double kick chops up and going. Fits the DW double pedal just fine in my oppinion. This this is sturdy as can be, and folds down pretty easy too. It is fairly quiet. MUCH quieter than a kick drum for sure, and a tad quieter than many electric kick triggers (just about the same "thwack" volume, only no resonating plastic and things). It does have a very nice feeling response too.
Bottom line: Rock solid, convenient, doesn't look like a toy, very 'playable' feel, totally worth it.

I picked up this to practice driving rythyms and techniques at home. One thing I didn't realize is this is just the stand, it does not come with the foot pedal, you have to order that separately. All in all this is a good solid piece and functions as it should.
