Love this CD. Demis has a haunting voice. His sound is unusual at first but becomes intriguing and one that lingers in your mind. His songs are beautifully written and presented on this CD. "Simply Demis" is to me, very soothing.

Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
Demis Roussos recorded his well known "hits" in the early to mid/late 1970s for Phillips (now part of/absorbed into Universal). The recordings on these two discs were made some 15 to 20 years later (between 1986-96), originating with "BR Music," when he was not in the best of voice (to be charitable). In fact, he sounds like he took a gulp of helium before each verse (not to mention the overdone [even cornier -in the worst sense- than the originals] accompaniments, probably to make up for his vocal deficiencies). At the first track of CD 1, "Forever and Ever," I could tell something was amiss.

If you want the original recordings (as I did), get "Demis Roussos - Greatest Hits: 1971-1980" (Philips 814 212-2, Demis Roussos - Greatest Hits: 1971-1980) or "Lo Mejor De (Castellano/Ingles)" (Universal 546 894-2, Lo Mejor De (Castellano/Ingles), 2 CDs - the second disc has pretty much all his big hits, including those when he was with Aphrodite's Child), depending on how many of his original hits that you want and how much that you want to spend (not that either is terribly expensive, at least on Amazon). Avoid ANY CDs of his on the BR label.

You've been warned.

What a voice! The words and music make me want to hold my husbands hand and walk on the beach as we have been doing for 55 years! What a beautiful voice that I don't remember from the 70's!
