Used these to build a bunk bed for my daughters. Drove in great with the supplied bit. I tested a few in scrap without pilot holes and they drove in very well. If you are within a couple inches of end grain I would recommend a pilot hole. Personally I drilled pilot holes for every one just to be safe.

They are kind of a golden bronze color and matched well with the opaque whitewash stain my daughters picked.

Excellent exterior construction (not just decking-rated) screw. The head does not strip out when using T-25 driver. 18-volt impact drill drove screws without pilot holes.
