Bought three of these alarms for use on doors about a year ago. Two of the three work fine and are loud enough to wake you if the door handle/knob is tried while you're asleep. The alarm on the third one went off by itself without any vibration on the door handle/knob. Since two of the three worked fine, I assumed the third was just a lemon. BIG MISTAKE. I ordered six more last week and all of them have alarms that just go off without any motion on the door handles/knobs. DO NOT BUY IF THEY ARE MEANT TO BE USED ON DOORS. The one star rating is because the alarm is loud enough for security purposes. *-UPDATE-* Contacted MACE Intl and they sent me six new alarms; five out of the six worked fine. Hopefully they just had a quality control problem that is now fixed. Adjusted star rating to five based on this with one star withheld just in case quality control problem is systemic.

While this product does deliver an earful, it is way too sensitive when set for vibration sensing mode.
A mouse fart would set it off -- be sure to wear earplugs!

Mace created a winner. This little device scares the devil out of anyone trying to gain entrance to your apartment when you are not home. Be sure to use ear plugs when setting this unit up. The instructions could be a little clearer but after calling the company it was up and running. If you require peace of mind, this is the way to go.

I have found this MACE alarm/security system to be excellent for the price. The only improvements I would make are: 1. Make the sound louder for the sound the system makes when you arm it. I have found it hard to hear once I have closed my front door. 2. Even when the system is not armed, the "alarm" sounds everytime you open or shut the door, functioning as a sort of "door bell," letting you know that the door has been opened. However, the sound is rather annoying.

I like this devise but the batteries don't last very long. Other than that I have no complaints it works like the package says it does. It is even more sensitive than I thought as well but I also like that.

This is a piece of crap and totally malfunctions. The minute you set it, it starts to alarm even without any vibration. It is totally useless since you won't be able to set it without it going off. I returned it right away!!

These door alarms are great on vacation or if you have a small apartment. It makes it hard to turn off with pass code and loop that if cut the alarm never turns off. It is not a high home security system but it is a great gift item for someone you care about.
