I may be being a bit generous with that rating by the way. Truth be told, this season of Mindfreak really demonstrated why the show ended. The early seasons were brilliant, Criss performed well, had a great variety of effects and seemed genuine during all the interviews. It might have been losing some of the major consultants on the show or it might have just been a massive increase in his ego with the series' success, but none of that is present in this season. The interviews seem hallow, the in-between skits are pretty blatantly staged, almost every episode features the same vanish we've seen a million times by now, even the 'teach a trick' moments that in the early seasons were simple but effective are pretty lame in this season.

Also, while Criss's mom seems like a wonderful lady, the recurring "Oh I'm so worried about him!" "Mom it'll be okay!" conversation popped up in every single episode making it seem stale, forced, and unimpressive when combined with the afore mentioned scriptedness. It seems like Criss's obsession with the claims of camera trickery and clever editing ended up outweighing everything that made the series interesting in the first place. I was really disappointed because, love him or hate him, Criss is possibly the most publicly visible magician out there and this was a sad state to see the show that essentially got me started on the road to magic fall to. I haven't seen his show 'Believe' on Spike, but if it's closer to this season than say, seasons one or two, I think I'll pass.

Recieved in the mail last week, Although I have watched the entire season as it was realeased on A&E it was great having this on DVD because of the bonus feature which is Criss teaching you how to do a couple of tricks (for those wondering, yes its different tricks that come with Mindfreak Ultimate Magic Kit by Criss Angel& Criss Angel MindFreak Platinum Magic Kit w/ Instructional DVDso your not getting jipped!) I loved every epsiode and i cant wait for Season 7!

So many people forget one thing, everyday people who are walking the street who are "randomly" selected for tricks and illusions are all PAID. The one thing that is constant is that they almost always have perfect, white capped teeth. Only ACTORS have this. Some people have very nice teeth, but selected at random, not every single person on the street has straight white capped or picture perfect teeth. It's the dead giveaway for extras who are paid or actors. Why don't producers realize this?

He is entertaining, but you can't suspend your disbelief when if feels so staged sometimes.

Magic as an art form is dead and Chris Angel is the living proof of that. All of Chris's tricks are staged. All the people that act so amazed are part of the act. On a side note, Chris is so annoying to watch I can't get through 10 minutes before I want him to disappear. It's so sad because I love magic, and the fact that this hack can become so famous tells me the art form is dead.

One continuous shot?!? He says "I want you to get a continuous shot so you know it's me...it's not a double-there's only 1 of me"...then the camera man COMPLETELY CUTS the scene at 39:13!!!!!!!! You cut the scene and switched a double-DUH!!!! And no one sees the car in that flash of flames...the scene is cut there too and the car never goes off the cliff...he was waiting in the cage the whole time.

First seasons were great, however as it progressed, it became all about the set up and showing off his wealth. You will spend 30 min watching set up for the "trick" and about 2 min actually watching what he became famous for.
