I can't believe they made an Okapi Webkinz !

To be perfectly frank, I have stopped buying Webkinz dolls for my two daughters. I mean "How many does a child need?". But when I heard about the Okapi Webkinz, I had to buy it for my six year-old daughter. We went to the Bronx Zoo in NYC when she was two and bought her an okapi stuffed animal after seeing the beautiful animals on display. They are related to the zebras I believe. Anyway, it has been her favorite animal ever since and I swear, we are the ones that suggested they make an Okapi Webkinz via their website. I could be wrong but no matter, it's adorable ! And now a part of her Okapi collection. Thank you Webkinz World. Perfect timing too as her account was lapsed due to lack of adoptions.

Excellent Gift for my Niece

I bought this for my niece, who absolutely adores animals, but is terribly allergic to real life animals. The Okapi gave her an opportunity to study about Okapi's with her mom. At age five, she is very curious, and learning about an animal she had never seen, or heard of, was fascinating for her. The Okapi is even cuter in person. Webkinz really makes excellent stuffed animals.

A Rare Find

My daughter saw one of these at Animal Kingdom at Disney. She fell in love with the real thing and then saw the Webkinz in their store and wanted it as well. There's only so much stuff one can shell out money for at Disney, so we told her we'd look for it for her for her birthday. Of course, back home no one carries it. I was so excited to find it online at Amazon! It was less than we would have paid at Disney, arrived in days, and is one of the most unusual Webkinz we've seen. She loves it, and all her friends keep asking where she got it.

Loving to Learn

My son's favorite animal is a giraffe, and at 4, he doesn't really want to learn about more than giraffes. But since the only relative in the animal world to the giraffe is the okapi, I gave it a shot. Leave it to Webkinz to create something so irresistible! Now he is now obsessed with learning about more interesting animals. Too much credit to Webkinz? Maybe. But 'Bravo!' for stretching across the animal kingdom.

What's an okapi?

With the legs of a zebra and a face like a donkey, the okapi is a real animal, and is the closest relative to the giraffe. This toy is well made, soft, and cuddly. Great educational toy to introduce a child (or adult) to a rare and little-known animal.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a stuffed Okapi toy?

My daughters are animal lovers and have an extensive knowledge of a wide variety of animals outside of the standard bear, lion, tiger and horse range. One of my older daughter's favorites is the Okapi. I had a very hard time finding any Okapi stuffed toys so I was thrilled to find the Webkinz version. Webkinz toys are generally very well made and I appreciated the fact that this one was a fairly realistic depiction instead of some cutesy, cartoon-like version. Even though they have outgrown the Webkinz phase, this toy has pride-of-place on her bed.

Soooo Cute!

You either know what this amazing creature is or you don't. This stuffed animal version seems to be of decent quality overall. We found a few loose threads, but that was about it. Now our only problem is trying to keep him from overtaking the dinner table. ;)

We ordered this Okapi for my 7 year old daughter. She ADORES it!! It is very soft and looks just like a real Okapi. They are her favorite animals at the zoo. Quality construction too. So many of her stuffed animals require immediate stitching of a seam but this one is very well done.
