A friend of mine bought the Nikon version of this product and he was very satisfied, so, even after I read the last few reviews on this product, I decided to buy anyway. What I received was the best price/solution for Sony Cameras and Flash Units anywhere! Right out of the box, all receivers and transmitters worked flawlessly. I have the Sony Alpha A900 and 3 Sony HVL-F58AM Flash Units. I Synced all of the flash units with my camera and mounted all the Cowboy Studio units - and everything worked perfectly. I can reliably shoot up to 30feet from camera (with transmitter) to flash units (with receivers) and I have not yet missed a single shot! Also, the customer service from Cowboy Studio is Excellent. I called the staff at Cowboy Studio and they took the time to answer all of my questions. If you are looking for a mobile lighting set-up, using Sony HVL-F58AM flash units, this product will deliver!

Not wanting to purchase pockwizards due to the steep price, I opted for this product instead. I'm glad I did since they work fantastic at 1/10 the price.

Works with no issues on my Sony a850.

I am also using this on an a55, and the camera does suffer from a "black screen" issue when any wireless trigger is mounted on the body, making it impossible to frame the subject. (Sony says this is normal and the camera was not intended for the studio setting.) The work around I found is to keep the flash up and dial flash compensation to absolute minimum. (This minimizes light from the body and keeps the screen from blacking out) If complete elimination of onboard flash is desired you can always obstruct the light with electrical tape or your hand when firing. I also use a hotshoe extension cord because the trigger does push a little on the flash when it is up.

Finally, the receiving units have an added bonus of having a built in umbrella holder.

Can't recommend this enough for Sony shooters - this is a must buy for anyone looking to experiment with radio triggers. :)

Shot multiple events weddings - and they're still working great. The fact that this product comes with both the transmitter and receiver means I had plenty of spares for additional flashes and bodies. (Added an a55 as a second body a few months back) Just thought I'd update this review since I was questioned about them last Sunday. At this price point - they really are too good to pass up.

Product works exactly as advertised, can cause flashguns to trigger using the iISO hotshoe mount specific to Sony and Minolta cameras. This unit does not support TTL, though I don't believe this model for Canon or Nikon does, so that's not really an issue especially at this price. So what are some specifically cool things about this flash?

Pros
Has a side rail for mounting onto umbrella stands, which is not on the Canon or Nikon models. Very handy!
Works with the Pelican device that converts the iISO hotshoe into a regular one, so you can use it with all your flash models. Very useful!
Comes with PC sync cable and has PC out on the receiving end of the flash.
Works very well on my Sony a77 (though be sure to gain up viewfinder through settings, and my Minolta 9xi
operates off different signals than Canon/Nikon models, so they will be unable to trigger your unit. This is good if you are in a situation (such as the classroom setting I am currently using) where you don't want your flash triggered by someone else's camera.

Cons
doesn't come with AAA batteries (though these are cheap)
no TTL?

at this price the cons aren't really big, and will not be much of an issue. If you were hesitant before, this works on SLT's and film bodies, quite the investment you are getting here!

I shoot mostly landscape and nature, but am now dabbling in the world of flash photography. I have a Metz MZ 44 AF-1 flash that already works wirelessly with my Sony SLT-A77, but wanted a radio option, since the built in is not always consistent in certain situations. This is the perfect, inexpensive solution.

Being a novice in this area, I didn't initially realize that you cannot use TTL and that you must use it in manual. It was really a blessing in disguise because you can control the flash so much better in manual anyway. I ended up getting a Yongnuo YN-560 II flash to use with this and it works great. The flash I ordered actually came with a standard shoe, so instead of returning it, I ordered the matching Cowboystudio NPT-04 Receiver and it works perfectly with this transmitter. Would recommend!

The trigger works fine with my A330, range is decent. I would recommend if looking for a basic trigger. FYI this trigger does not support TTL.

Bought these for cheap flash triggers. They work great with my Yonguno 560 ii flash..
One thing I didn't like was that the flash fell from like 3ft, and part of the receiver broke so be careful on dropping your flash on carpet. Recommend for those on a budget or anyone that wants flash triggers. They have about a 15ft range.
