But I do so love this Body Composition Monitor. I've used the Tanita scale, that measures body fat, for several years:
Tanita BF679W Duo Scale Plus Body Fat Monitor with Body Water
But it was time for something more high-tech that measured other body compositions, and I also wanted to have .1 pound increments instead of the .2 that most of the Tanitas use.

This scale seems to be consistent with the readings from my older Tanita, plus there are so many more measurements it's taking that I'm very happy with it. It's a little pricey, but Tanita is a high quality brand, very highly rated, and it will give you many years of accurate readings. Included is a booklet that gives you information about what significance the various measurements mean, and an excellent instruction book. Tanita also provides a chart you can use to record and monitor your personal readings over time.

Definitely worth the extra money to get all of the extra measurements as well as the .1 pound weight increments (something that's almost impossible to find in any scale).

Overall nice features. Haven't owned it long enough to form a definitive opinion. However, in the short time that I have, it seems highly accurate, well made, and easy to use, with one exception...the recall feature is somewhat confounding. I got the impression that you could store multiple readings over a long period of time and then easily review them. It only stores the previous reading and you can only access it after you have just taken a current reading. In other words, you can't just push a button and see the previous reading. You have to step on the scale, take a reading and then quickly review the previous reading before it times out. Like the scale, but found that to be an obvious flaw. Please let me know if there's another way.

Bought this after having several scales that are inconsistent. The Tanita Ironman is outstanding. This scale you have to turn on before use but there is no fluctuation in readings. The unit beeps when the reading is set, easy to read. It measures body mass along with several other useful measurements. Also records in increments of .1 - great for those of us who weigh regularly. Can also be used on carpet, a feature most scales cannot duplicate.

Thin, light weight - can be stored easily. Pricey but worth the investment for a true health and fitness nut.

This is a great update from previous Tanita models. With our last scale we never knew if our body fat percentage was fluctuating from our hydration status or if we had really changed fat percentage. This one gives you both so you have an accurate idea. My husband really uses this one to track his hydration before and after 3 to 4 hour workouts. It is simple to use after looking at instructions one time. By the way, our last Tanita scale was 13 years old and still worked great.

Seems very cool and definitely feels high quality but the reality is that other than weight, I am not 100% sure the other measurements are all that accurate. Why? Because I can keep the scale on the exact same spot on the floor (a hard floor) and weigh myself within an hour and get 3 radically different readings with regard to body fat %, lean body mass, etc. It can show me that I have 182 pounds of lean muscle tissue and then 45 minutes later say that I have 165 pounds. I doubt I lost 15 pounds of muscle in those 45 minutes....

I expected more from a scale in this price range.

This scale offers excellent metrics for monitoring and managing one's health, as a part of a comprehensive fitness program. Having owned a Tanita scale some years before, I was also really impressed with the svelte dimensions and stylish form - they've made huge leaps in the light, thin, elegance of this sophisticated product. And when the scale looks and behaves so nice, you can't help but feel good using it. I'd give it a 5 if it were a little more accurate (it overstates my weight and body fat% is problematic on any household device), but I still give it a 4 because its measurements are very consistent (if I weigh under consistent circumstances, from day to day), permitting me to get really useful daily feedback and motivation. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this scale.
