Motley Crue's new "Carnival of Sins-Live" DVD is the best Motley Crue DVD there is--by far.

This is a two disc DVD,and while it is not perfect,it is really good and solid. It opens up with a very funny and short cartoon on how Motley Crue got back together, and once you have seen the cartoon for the show/Motley Crue's getting back together and going on a tour(which Motley used on all of their shows;I saw The Crue at their concert at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis)the concert on this DVD opens up with a great version of "Shout At The Devil '97"(note that the back of the DVD specifies it as the original SATD,but if you are a die hard Motley fan,you will notice that The Crue are playing Shout '97 at the beginning of this concert that is on this DVD,NOT the original Shout). This whole concert finds Motley Crue playing (mostly)their hits/fan favorites from the 80's("Girls,Girls,Girls","Dr. Feelgood","Live Wire","Ten Seconds To Love","Home Sweet Home",etc.)with the addition of two Motley songs from the 90's("Primal Scream" and half of the ballad "Glitter"),their two new original songs off of their "Red,White, and Crue" anthology album("If I Die Tommorow" and "Sick Love Song")as well as two cover songs("Helter Skelter" and "Anarchy In The U.K."). Note the fact that this concert was made as a film,it looks like a concert that is a movie, and while I would have just preferred a concert, the whole movie/concert concept into one theme was a really good idea that works here. The camera does switch back from the band to the audience too often at the beginning of this concert/film but gets better at focusing on the band towards the end of the DVD,and the live performances of the songs on here are really good(Motley Crue were being honest when they said that they still do have energy left in them)!

Based on what I have seen and heard this LOOKS and SOUNDS fantastic. Yeah, the camera shots are active and change fast... but much of the concert is packed with toughness and adrenaline, it actually makes some sense that the shots match it in being active as well. Sound-wise, this is the best the Crue have ever sounded live... this looks to me like a must own DVD. If you are looking for a DVD to give you an example of suspect quality... check out the new Twisted Sister one... now that one looks and sounds cheap and sloppy. This one looks like a gem... the only negative I see is its not out for another 2 months. Final thoughts, boy is it good having Tommy back... the drumming is excellent and it really adds so much to the songs. Vince is sounding better than he has in 20 years... and the guitar sound on this DVD is monsterously good... compare it to the Lewd Crued and Tatooed DVD of a few years back and you will really see how much better this version is!!! Its nice to see another band and not just KISS putting on a show that is actually worthy of the price of modern concert tickets.

I love this DVD. I watch it all the time. Sometimes I just put it on and play it while I'm doing other things around the house but most of the time I'll stop what I'm doing and sit down and watch the rest. It's not about nitpicking every little thing in the DVD. Personally I think the vocals are pretty good. Vince sings in tune, hitting all the high notes. Does he get ever word in there perfectly, no, but as a performer myself I understand how out of breath you can get on stage. Compared to the way Axle sings in their live DVD, Vince is golden. There are a couple part I skip through: the Nikki and Tommy solos, They are talent guys but I'm not too into experimental music. The Boobie Cam is old after you've seen it once. I mean, come on, how many times can you see the same girls show off their fake boobs? I don't care how much you like boobs it's not that great. Those are the only negative points of the entire DVD though. They play a ton of great songs, the stage is cool, the performance is good and you can watch it over and over and just have fun. that's what it's really all about.

Just got through watching the DVD.

Holy crap! Talk about more bang for the buck!

Don't know where to start. First the band sounds fantastic. They sound great together, they're having fun and it cooks! The mix is sweet and clean, the songs sound tight and ALIVE! With eyes closed and no crowd noise, you'd still know that you're hearing a concert recording.

Second, they seem to really enjoy playing the music. Some of the stage banter seems a little forced, but I think that it's more the band just being the band rather than pandering to the crowd.

And they're excited to be in front of a loving, happy, insane, bordering on maniacal audience. Just look at how these guys dig performing.

The look of the show is amazing. The stage is just what the doctor ordered, a spectacle. From the tent to the pyro to the "added performers", it's a nuthouse! It looks like what a concert should be and after viewing it I wished that I was at the thing.

And one last thing. Parts of it are like watching "Girls Gone Wild". Not a bad thing here. These "gentlemen" love their chickies and want to make sure that EVERYBODY gets a chance to share the enthusiasm.

All in all a great DVD that could've easily cost more. The Disc 2 stuff is all well and good, but the concert is the thing.

This reminds me of what a concert should be, a bunch of people seeing an amazing show, hearing a great band, and seeing what could possibly be,

"The Greatest Show in the Universe"
