My new 4Runner came with clear paint protection, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to install one of these deflectors as well. I'm a 5'3" female, and managed to install the product by myself. The installation videos appear to be outdated. My Bugflector II came without adhesive tape. All it took was securing six screws, and sticking on a couple of the included bumpers. Done! I've uploaded a photo of the Bugflector II on my Magnetic Grey 4Runner Trail. I'm very happy with this product.

This product fits my 2013 4Runner great. The installation was quick and simple. There are 8 square holes on the underside of the hood toward the front. 2 on the left and right and 4 in the center. The enclosed kit has 6 blocks that fit into these holes. Use the ones on the sides and the 2 on the outer sides of the center, they just pop in. Place the shield over the edge of the hood and let it hang. Place the plastic washer over the screws and tighten into the blocks. Put the stick on rubber bumpers on the tips of the shield. The instructions say to put them on the hood. Sorry, not gonna stick them to my paint when they will do the same thing on the back of the shield. The entire installation took about 5 minutes. I'm going to check the screws after the next fill up to make sure they are still tight. Might coat them in some blue locktite if they need it.

**UPDATE** 26 Nov 2013
The shield is still doing well. The screws have held tight and have not needed to be tightened. We have had some below freezing nights here and so far there is no damage to the shield. This has happened in the past in the winter. One shield I had on an old Ford Exploder was shattered during sub-freezing temperatures when a pickup with a blade on the front passed me going the other way. The snow and slush hit the front of my truck and when I got home the shield was broke in 3 places. That shield was a Ventvisor brand if I remember correctly, (bought it at Autozone).

I will update this again after winter is over. If it survives with no damage then it will become a 5 star review.

The shield is holding up very well. The winter had no effect on it. The 4Runner sat outside all winter long before our pole barn was finished.Read more ›

I bought this for my 4Runner after having suffered a rock chip on the front part of my hood within the first 1500 miles... This product gets shipped in a huge box with lots of extra space around it, so it probably bounces around a lot when getting shipped. However, mine did arrive safely. The install for this process is quick and easy. All you need is your car keys to open the door and hood and a screw driver. Overall, I think it took me about 5 minutes to put it on.

I put this on my 2014 4Runner and it looks great. It stands off from the hood so you don't have to worry about it rattling or damaging the paint and you can get behind it to clean the hood when your washing.

Now for the bad. I bought it because this vehicle is the absolute worst for drawing bugs to the windshield. Every morning I have to run the wipes to clean off the previous days carnage. It usually looks like I've driven through a bug gut war zone. I figured this "bugflector" would do the trick. Especially since it's a Bugflector "II". However it really does nothing to deflect bugs. I still look like I ran a gauntlet of vice presidents firing bug filled shotguns at my windshield. And I still run the wipers every morning.

5 Stars for looks and installation. 1 star for Bugflecting.

This fit my 2014 4Runner SR5 without issue. The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars was it took 2 to get 1 good one the first broke in transit; the company did however get one out the next day and I had it three days latter.
On the 2014 it makes an aggressive vehicle look even more so.

I just received this item in the mail today, carefully opened the box. There was a small bag of plastic items and screws that make up the install kit. The bag had a hole, 3 screws and 1 plastic mounting clip were missing. I went to Home Depot and bought a few items to compensate for the hardware I was missing. I tend to resolve small problems like this myself instead of shipping the whole thing back just because of a few small items. In a nut shell this item is as described but mine was missing a few pieces and I was inconvenienced by having to resolve this myself. 5 STAR ITEM, 2 STAR PACKAGING

The installation of the bugflector was a cinch. The hood of the 4Runner already has square holes in the right places. All you do is to insert the plastic screw receptacles and fasten the unit to them. Here's a little installation hint: cover the work area with a blanket or something. I didn't and fortunately the screw fell all the way to the garage floor.
