I specifically stayed away from some cheaper no name wire because the reviews said it was not pure copper. I should have know better when the description of the Pyle PSC12100 12 gauge wire did not have copper in it anywhere. I was suspicious the instant I picked up the box, didn't feel like there could be 100 feet of 12 gauge wire inside. I opened the box and it looked like copper. I cut 1/2" off the end to get a nice fresh end and sure enough, it's copper plated aluminum. Now aluminum is OK if you are expecting aluminum but it's conductivity is only about 60% of copper so you have to go up over two gauge sizes to get the same resistance per foot. In the case of speaker wire, many terminals max out at 12 gauge, there is no way you are going to get 10 gauge wire in them. Plus it's harder to find 10 gauge and it's harder to hide. In any case, this isn't 10 gauge so I can't use it for the longer runs I need. Bottom line, I'm disappointed it's not clearly marked and sold as aluminum wire and it's going back. There is obvious intent to mislead consumers through omission of facts.

This is not copper wire. The cut end is shiny silver colored. If you scrape the wire it goes from copper color to silver. This is CCA (copper clad aluminum) and is made in China. I am very disappointed as other reviewers reported this was quality copper wire. Don't waste your time or money on this product.

So it was suppose to be a 100ft roll... Too bad that it was at least 25ft short of 100ft, and that is on the being generous side. Will be contacting amazon for a full complain on monday. When you plan and measure how much wire you need..... and then buy a roll based on that... you expect that you will get what you pay for, not 75% of what you paid for.

This is ok speaker wire however I feel like they are a bit dishonest, this isn't copper wire. It is actually copper plated aluminum which means it isn't as good as pure copper wire, which you should probably buy instead because it is almost exactly the same price (Same gauge and everything). I had not found this out until I rewired my entire house to set up my surround sound speakers. For the price it's decent but for an extra 5 to 10 bucks you can get pure oxygen free copper wire which is a lot better.

The whole spool of 250' is supposed to be continuous but it's cut in the middle around 150'. What kind of a product to be advertised as 250' and then cheated like that? I am very disappointed but I have no way to return it because I have spent several hours to install parts of it in the attic. Avoid this brand if you expect your speaker wire to be all in one long wire so you can cut it wherever you want instead of them cutting for you.

Well I got what I paid for, but this is not high quality. This is lamp cord (aluminum wire that's platted with copper) It was 14GA so I gave it 2 stars. Don't get me wrong it works as speaker wire but it is not copper inside. This is obvious when you cut the wire and look at the end. If you are ok with your music traveling on the thin platting of copper over the aluminum then this will be fine. However if you are pushing 50 to 100 watts and want the best sound, then go to Home Depot and buy the 14GA by the foot @ .70 cents a foot or just invest in the $45. roll of 14GA 100' real copper speaker wire. Just go and feel how heavy the 14GA by the foot is and you will see what I am talking about.

It's speaker wire. So of course you can tell left from right. I mean, have you ever seen speaker wire (or lamp cord - basically the same thing) where you couldn't?

And, of course it's CCA. Look at the price you're paying - no way you're going to get pure copper for this little!

Did I unroll the entire thing and verify the length? Uh. What? No. I didn't and neither did anyone else.

Yes, it's a bit fatter than 12 gauge. I use my snips on 10 and that works just fine. But... So?

I'm not giving this a 5 star rating because obviously someone is shilling for the company and writing fake reviews up the wazoo. The NYT says that we can't trust anything we read online these days but, well, I hope we can... I hope! But the blatantly fake reviews here are pretty surprising, really. I thought Amazon had algorithms to detect and delete that kind of activity.

Anyway, if I find anything crazy while I'm installing this I'll give a shout back.
