This is a great quality brush . The white bristles are smooth, and the steel ferrule is rust proof so I don't have to worry when I leave my brushes outside. The handle is short which is good for working close up and covers a large area. Great for varnishing, graining, and transparent painting / priming. I recommend this brush for artist who use a lot of different mediums.

At the listed retail price of $30, I don't think I would have found this brush to be all that great...but you can't beat the $5.50 that I paid for it on Amazon Prime. At this price, it's worth buying a few to keep on hand. I use it for applying traditional gesso to wooden panels and smoothing oil ground on canvas and hardboards. I've bought packages at places like Michael's and A.C. Moore that look like this brush and contain 3-4 different size brushes of this same type for just a few dollars. The quality of this brush is MUCH nicer though. The cheap multi-packs tend to have rather meager, uneven bristles and the metal ferrule that holds the hairs on the handle is not tight...so I'm constantly having to extract brush bristles that have fallen out into the gesso or ground and then smooth it all out again. No problems with this brush though.

This is a budget priced Da Vinci hog bristle brush. The bristles aren't interlocked and the flags do not point in. The top of the brush is slightly splayed. It's good for broad flat applications and washes.

This is probably a fine brush and for the money a very good buy. However it is one brush -- the smallest of the ones pictured. I ordered casually and quickly, and expected a package of three brushes. I should have read carefully and they should have made it more clear. Why picture the two larger brushes at all? Very deceiving.

Just received this and although I haven't used it yet...I'm very happy with the purchase...I especially like the bristle texture (soft yet firm) and its thin (not thick like my previous varnish brushes) As an oil painter artist I've tried to many different final varnish brushes...this one appears to be just what I've been looking for!
