This bath sponge is wonderful... I used it for my son. It is thick, soft, and I like the sunken in section for the baby. It is perfect to use during baby's first weeks when he isn't able to go in a baby tub yet... we stuck it right on top of the changing table for his sponge baths.

HOWEVER, $19.99 is an insane price. You can purchase it for $6 at Babies R Us.

I paid the high price. I received the item and couldn't believe it cost as much as a tub. It's just a big, indented sponge.

I hope the other reviewers who say they have the same item at Babies R Us for six or seven dollars will save you. Or other baby supply stores. It's not worth more than a few dollars, six or seven bucks should be an upper limit.

Hopefully I can use the rest of their advice too and make it a useful product, now that I have this thing. But don't pay this price whatever you do.

Taking a closer look at it once it was received , which came well with in the specified time frame and at no additional cost either i might add ;) the foam seems awfully soft and a bit thinner than in the picture but none the less should do it's prescribed job just fine ! This was inside a sealed bag with a Baby's R Us logo on it , so i'm guessing they're the usual retailer / manufacturer of it . If that matters or makes a difference to any of you reading this . It's also available in several other colors and patterns but this one suited our grandson , he seems to like turtles and he is a lil' boy so blue is fitting , obviously . The scalloped form with in the sponge should help keep him steady during bath time just fine and as intended . $15.00 well spent I think and will cut down on our laundry costs since we're not using 3-4 towels to form a makeshift cradle for him during bath time , SCORE !

I was somewhat pleased with this item but found it for a ridiculous low price withnanother carrier after I paid the higher price, there ought to be a law. 17.99 is quite a bit more than 6.99 I feel quite stupid. Be advised.....

When my 1st newborn came home, this product made bath time much more simple. I was told in birthing classes that newborns should be wiped down with soapy water and then wiped with a damp cloth for first baths. This should be done until the umbilical cord and circumcision areas are healed. The bath sponge made this perfectly possible.
Then the babies can be washed and rinsed on the infant netting on infant/baby tubs. Even then, it gave me a great surface to dry my son on. Eventually when my son was seated and submerge in the baby tub and in a bath seat I still used it for drying and lotioning.
It keeps everything dry. Although it is absorbent it dries quickly. It was one of those must haves. We used the bath sponge for 9 months because my son was tall and chunky (and in a size 18 mo) at this age. Other moms with smaller babies will be able to use this product for at least a year.

The product itself is fine. But why on earth is the price like 5 times what it costs to buy the exact same item in the store - the big baby supply store? I have no idea. I bought it thinking it must be different or better somehow. It isn't. It's the same. Go to the store or their website and buy the duck - it's way cheaper and the same product.
