These are by far the best floorstanding speakers that I've ever heard. I previously had a pair of the older RF-3s, 8inch woofers, connected to a 1975 McIntosh MA6100 solid state pre/power amp. I thought that I had the creme de la creme of audio hardware, until I plugged these badboys in. The soundstage, the audio clarity, the bass...everything was just so well defined. I can simply say that the audio is flawlessly balanced. If you're into bass heavy hip hop or rap, you won't be disappointed. The dual 10in woofers can seriously handle some really heavy thumpeage. I love all styles of music, but lately my tastes have gravitated towards blues, jazz, acoustic guitar, funk and rock. These speakers need to be auditioned at a high end home theater store with a few bluray live concerts with higher resolution audio. Recently I sampled them with the Led Zeppelin bluray live performance entitled, "Celebration Day," which was recorded in 2007. Angle the RF-7 IIs in a V shape coming to a nice center point in the room and you'll feel like Jimmy Page is shredding right in front of you. There are subtle nuances of many recordings that I hadn't even heard previously. Say for example with Dave Brubeck's classic Time Out album. I could hear the detailed echoes of the kick drum during the mid section of the track Take 5.

I prefer to listen to music more than movies or tv, however the audio quality is equally impressive in those other categories. It felt as though I was in the Lakers arena on Christmas Day when they took on the Knicks. Hearing the crowd collectively chanting, "MVP, MVP," while the thud of the basketball and other well mic'd parts of the area shined brightly.

I have had the RF-7ii speakers for 3 years. I have RC-64 center and rf-62 for surrounds. Driving them is a 200w x 5 channels Outlaw power amp.
If you've read my my other reviews you will know that I am very picky with stuff like this. All I can say is WOW.
I have cranked these speakers up to 112db at 8 feet with no audible breakup (painful, yes, but impressive!). Of course, we usually listen to music and movies at normal levels. These speakers sound incredibly full all low volume. I eliminated my subwoofer (try listening to the fish tank scene in Finding Nemo - cranked the bass will knock you out of your seat and suck the air out of your chest (WITHOUT a sub!). We listen to everything from rock to country to pop to classical. We use this set up mostly for home theater and it just sounds amazing. We watch a lot of music content (Dancing with the Stars, CMA awards, etc.) and the sound quality is amazing. Crisp, clear, full, are the words that come to mind. I'm also a rock guitar player and love my music really loud. These speakers remind me of the old school party speakers with 12" woofers. The dual 10" drivers really deliver the goods. Mids are really punchy and guitar leads really scream. The horns make easy work of cymbals, etc. (I love a nice crisp "tsa-tsa-tsa-tsa" cymbal sound. With my power amp you'd have to have a PC-Ultra sub to even feel/hear it - so you don't really even need a subwoofer (I got rid of my 250W 12" sub because these speakers overpower it - easily). Their high efficiency lets you drive them with a modest amp, but an amp with a lot of headroom is going to get you the clarity at low volumes. You cannot possibly go wrong with these speakers.

I swapped out for Cherry, very beautiful furniture grade finish. As for the sound, Yah, they are the bomb. Enough said.

Update: I still love the speakers, but the wife may want to kill you. They are not exactly discrete. If you have to choose between these exceptional speakers and the wife, make sure you find a good divorce attorney.

I've had these speakers for awhile now, and I'm having trouble leaving the house and getting any work done. These speakers sound so good, they've turned me into a vegetable, getting up only to change the CDs, visit the kitchen and bathroom, and check the mail. My girlfriend is ready to disown me, and my fitness program has gone out the window. The problem is: pianos sound like pianos, and guitars sound like guitars. You can hear fingers on the strings of both electric and upright bass, vocals sound like they're in the room with you, woodwinds and horns can make you cry, and I'm addicted to every strike of the drum and cymbal. Buy these speakers at your own risk, if you love music. Or movies. Or TV.

Jeeeesus! Wow, this is what I call quality my friends. Worth every single penny. My mom, dad, and wife all come into my bedroom/studio and want to hear more from these speakers on a daily basis. I listen to a lot of deep ambient electronica and these speakers are the only speakers that will literally make you FEEL like you're in a different dimension. My entire room gets full of deep bass....not the bass that you just hear in your ears, but the type of bass you feel in your body.

Wow.....wow wow wow!

Long time Klipsch fan, first time RF-7 purchaser. I splurged and went with the big boys, and they are huge. I mean really huge and imposing. Woof, woof, woof! But they have that crystal clear Klipsch sound I'm used to. I lost my Synergy surround sound system to a house fire, so these were my front channel replacements. I'm still trying to get the wireless rear speaker transmitter I bought working.

As far as these go, they are amazing. I did add a SW12 subwoofer, so my Yamaha amp had to be configured to "small" for the front pair, or it wouldn't send any signal to the subwoofer at all. Music, especially, is sweet. Watching my TiVo, along with the RC62 center channel speaker, is ideal.
