I bought two of these at the same time to replace a large spice rack that my husband made, which holds 50 herbs/spices. I had an assortment of spice jars from McCormick, WalMart, CVS, etc., and I decided a while back that I wanted to switch to all McCormick jars so everything would match. While I had been using McCormick spices to refill some of the larger spice jars that came with cheaper spices, I could never remember which I had refilled with the good McCormick spices vs those that still had the lower-quality spices in them. If you think there's no difference, try tasting them side by side, such as McCormick paprika vs one from CVS or WalMart.

Even if you don't need the spice rack, and I may have my husband make a new one sized for the McCormick jars, you won't be able to get the spices themselves for this price if you buy them in a store. While the assortment apparently can vary, mine came with the same assortments. Almost everything in the rack is something I actually use, and I'm going to save the spices from the second rack to add ones that aren't included like onion powder, marjoram, curry powder, white pepper, etc. The spices that came with mine are:

I read the reviews and saw that someone received spices with only six months left, but more recently someone got spices marked for 2016, so I figured it would be OK to go ahead and order this. When the box arrived, there was a label on the outside that said "Best before Feb 2014". That would have meant only six months to use them. I almost sent them back....glad I didn't!

When I opened the box, I checked the expiration date and the minimum expiration date I had was April of 2015. So that's almost two years on that bottle with the earliest expiration date. Most of the others are 2016 and even 2017. Some spices just don't have as long as others once they are bottled.

So, if you receive this, don't just send it back, open it up and check the expiration date on the bottom of the bottles. They are not easy expiration dates to see. I've never seen an expiration date that is so difficult to read in my life, actually. You're definitely going to need some reading glasses or a magnifying glass...time to pick those up too if you've been meaning to.

The rack is decent. I was just going to toss the rack actually, but it's perfect for painting to match the window trim in the kitchen.

If you're just starting to collect your spices, or need a refresh, this is wonderful deal.

First things first, I want to address the expiration date problem that some people have mentioned. Mine had a sticker on the side that said 26 April 2016. Then I looked at the individual spices, and they many expire around April 26, 2017. Some expire as late as 2018! I'm going to go ahead and trust the labels on the bottles themselves.

We just moved and threw all of our old spices away. This Rack was perfect to add to our new kitchen! The spices are everything you need and nothing you don't. And it looks very nice hung on the wall. The best part is they all look the same and you can easily buy new ones when there run out and it will still look uniform and professional. Great Rack!!

Item was exactly what I was looking for. Very happy with that. However, the expiration date for the spices is October 2013. That means only six months to use the spices.

I bought this primarily because I needed a new spice rack to sit on my countertop. The rack itself arrived slightly broken, with one of the wood supports cracked. It is not a particularly sturdy rack to sit on a countertop. The McCormick spice bottles also do not sit perfectly in the space provided, so some are partially slanted in the rack. I wanted a rack that I could use to store my McCormick bottles as opposed to having to transfer them to another bottle. This does the job, but not well. One other reviewed mentioned that their spices expired soon. I did not have this problem. My spices expire in 2016.
