I add some to my favorite facial night cream. Since skin is our biggest organ, I try to feed my skin good things. This turns my face a pretty shade of warm honey color temporarily during the night and washes off the next day...my skin looks great and feels great. Got the idea of adding it to my facial night cream from beautiful mixed race actress, Thandie Newton.

For my Amer. Pit Bull Terrier, I add about 1/2 teaspoon to each meal for my 20-month dog (who weighs 55-60 lbs)along with 1/2 teaspoon of organic chlorella powder and 1/2 teaspoon Kona grown spirulina powder, plus Tyler multivitamin capsule, milk thistle capsule, and 1 teaspoon of Tropical Traditions organic coconut cream.

For my daily breakfast cereal, I add 1/2 teaspoon of this organic Turmeric, plus 1/2 teaspoon of the organic Norwegian grown Billberry powder, plus organic chlorella and Kona grown spirulina powder (I don't buy the Now brand organic spirulina grown in India).

My dog is thriving. And so am I. People keep telling me they don't believe I'm as old as I say I am. I guess that's a good indication that I'm putting good things in my body and on my skin.

It's the curcumin plant pigment which gives this spice its characteristic golden yellow/orange color. I've tried several different varieties of turmeric, and Frontier Organic comes out on top in terms of quality, appearance, and taste. What you're getting here is the Alleppey variety, which recorded maximum color in chemical analyses of turmeric rhizomes (not to get too science-y...basically, this is "the good stuff"). A simple google search will yield a wealth of info explaining the numerous health benefits of this powerful golden powder. For those not familiar or who have never tasted it before, turmeric has a deep, earthy flavor that is somewhat pungent/bitter. It's somewhat of an acquired taste, depending on who you ask--some say they can barely taste it, that it mostly just stains everything they eat (along with their tupperware!) with its trademark bright golden tinge. I feel good about cooking with it because of the anti-inflammatory effects. Also, on the beauty front, I often use it topically (as a homemade facial mask, mixed together with a bit of chickpea flour and almond oil) to maintain glowing skin. You are paying more for organic, yes, but if you use a lot of turmeric (i.e. in your everyday meals), then I happen to think it's worth it because you're consuming the spice at a much higher volume than if you were to only use it sparingly. I believe you can get 3 bags (so that's 3 lbs.) of the non-organic turmeric from Frontier for about $20, which is clearly a sizable price difference. It's a personal choice, obviously. I opt for organic with several spices, only because I do consume certain ones regularly.Read more ›

I will not get tired of praising this product. We used to take turmeric pills but read that to make it more bio available it should be taken with hot pepper and fat. So now we make a paste with it, adding safflower and raw sesame oil, crushed garlic, red pepper, apple cider vinegar, and salt. We spread it on sprouted grain bread or add it to tomato sauce, stews and soups. Yummy and heathy!

A remarkable human clinical study published in the journal Diabetes Care, the journal of the American Diabetes Association, revealed that turmeric extract was 100% successful at preventing prediabetic patients from becoming diabetic over the course of a 9-month intervention.[1]

Performed by Thailand researchers, the study's primary object was to assess the efficacy of curcumin, the primary polyphenol in turmeric which gives the spice its golden hue, in delaying the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in a prediabetic population.

The study design was a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial including 240 subjects who met the American Diabetic Association's criteria for prediabetes. All subjects were randomly assigned to receive either 250 mg of curcuminoid or placebo capsules for 9 months.

Type 2 diabetes progression was assessed by measuring a wide range of parameters, including changes in the insulin-producing cells within the pancreas known as β-cells, insulin resistance, and the anti-inflammatory cytokine known as adiponectin, at four different times: baseline, 3-, 6-, and 9-month visits during the course of intervention.

High quality organic turmeric! I take a lot of turmeric for inflammation issues and I'm not rich so decided to make my own capsules. Bought capsules through Amazon and a capsule maker by "Cap M Quik". Just make sure you pay attention to the capsule sizes and make sure they match. Takes a little time to get the hang of it but works great and I save an incredible amount of money! Frontier is a brand I trust and I will only buy organic so this was great! I suggest when it arrives at your home, put it in a gallon zip lock bag and cut out the Frontier label showing the expiration date and tape it to the gallon zip lock bag. I filled a Ball jar full of turmeric to use while making caps and cooking and just keep the rest in the zip lock bag. Just think about how much a small bottle of organic turmeric caps costs (good quality ones) 25-40 dollars and then think of all the capsules one pound of this turmeric costs!! YEEEEEEOWWWWZZZAAA! The savings is crazy!
