For a cheap brush set, this one takes the cake! I'm a painter/mixed-media artist by trade. I also love to art journal. I am simply horrible to my brushes. They will sometimes sit for days in paint water or on a paint rag to dry on my desk. Eventually, I will get so fed up that I will take them to the sink and clean them. Stiff brushes are nothing new to me as I use gel medium all the time. To clean a stiff brush (that to some might seem like it should be thrown away) I will pump a couple squirts of hand sanitizer into a container along with my brush. Wait a few minutes for the bristles to soften up and then comb out all the gunk with an eyelash comb or a toothbrush. This is the set of brushes I have done this to. I bought this pack about a year ago (and I paint almost every day) and have finally decided it's time to replace some of them. The abuse is a repetitive cycle in my studio which goes to show you don't need fancy expensive brushes to create great art.

There was a good mix of brushes for all purposes. Since they're cheap, I wasn't expecting much, but they're good for a beginner/student. Its a great starter set that you can easily add more to the collection.
