As of right now im using my candy board to write this, im using mac os 10 (snow leopard) it was easy to set up right out of the box, as far as size its about as thick as an iphone or droid, it was easy to set up, a little weird to get used to, but it has just about every button a standard keyboard has with the exception of a right shift button. it responds well, and the built in touch pad is great, but as its small it does take a few swipes to get all the way across the screen. ive yet to try this with my xbox, but from what ive read its not too hard to configure. as far as practicality i think this is best used for home theater set ups or utilizing a tv or large monitor from a distance, i really got this as an experiment to see what i can do with it as far as coding and design accompanying my tablet so i dont have to reach awkwardly to my built in key board, and so far so good. anyways i wouldnt recommend this as just a replacement to purchasing a full keyboard other than with a media set up.

Out of the box, this unit would not hold a charge. Tried plugging into two different computers, a win pc and a mac, and using a usb wall charger. I left it on charge for a couple hours. Only showed a red light and never took a charge. Would work but only while plugged in. I was able to pair it with my mac and test it out, but only while connected to a power source. Pairing worked, but otherwise connectivity was flakey at best. I repackaged and returned to amazon the day after I received it. I liked the form factor, backlighting and laser pointer...too bad it was otherwise a piece of junk.

Before this, I had a Logitech DiNovo Mini. Used for several years, but it recently stopped working. I was trying to save some money but as always, you get what you pay for. I just ordered a new DiNovo mini. Sigh.

I must say this is my first purchase of this type for a media center PC I have in my living room, and I am extremely disappointed. I'll break it down below:

PROS:

*Great battery life, don't have to charge it for weeks on end, with moderate daily use.
*Backlit keyboard is a nice touch although I don't use it that frequently
*Size--blends nicely with my other remotes on my coffee table.

CONS:

*Horrendous range, 6 feet if you're lucky. And that's assuming no obstacles. From the couch to the USB receiver, it's about 5 feet in my living room, and even still I have trouble with it. I'm thankful for front USB ports! If I had to plug it in the back, it probably wouldn't work at all.

*After a short time, the keyboard enters "sleep" mode to conserve battery. To bring it back, you have to press a key at least 5 itmes before it will wake. Very annoying.

*Some of the keys will "stick", although not physically. Maybe just a software issue with the driver (Windows 7), I don't know, but it REALLY makes it a pain when trying to wake it up from "sleep" as mentioned before. Occasionally during typing or scrolling, the key will "stick" and leave you with a bunch of repeated keystrokes.

*If you've done extensive research on this as I have, you'll find there are TONS of different brands of these keyboards out there that are exactly this same one. Some have varying ratings. Maybe one of the others is good, but the VisionTek is total crap, and the fact that there are tons of this exact same looking model will keep me from getting any other ones just like it.

Please, save your money and do your research. I'm looking into Lenovo's offering, the N9501. Has great reviews compared to others.

When giving presentations or conducting training sessions for users, I like to move around while I speak. I do not like having to remain static in front of a laptop just to change slides. This keyboard does that, and so much more. I love how compact it is and that the Bluetooth dongle stores inside it. Usability is easy to pick up on. Keys are spaced not unlike early Motorola Android smart phones and adapting to typing with it is quick. A great product with a multitude of uses.

I purchased this keyboard to use with my Tivo Premier and it has worked flawlessly from a distance of about 15 feet. I particularly like the back lighting which makes it very easy to use in the dark. It also has a built in laser pointer that I thought was rather gimmicky until I found that I could use it to point at stuff on the screen from the comfort of the couch.

This is as close to the perfect size as I could wish for - the same width and slightly longer than a package of 2 Reeses peanut butter cups - hence the candy bar size description. The keys are just the right size and have a good tactile feel - slightly rounded and you can feel the click when depressed.

The unit is rechargeable via a USB cable. I charged it months ago and it still hasn't run down. Granted it is only used occasionally and I don't leave it on when it is not in use. The unit has a small green power led that not only tells you when the unit is on but also that it is linked to the remote side. It has a low power mode that just flashed an amber led to let you know that it is on and idle. Pressing any key or swiping the mouse pad instantly wakes the unit back up.

If you have a Tivo Premier and are looking for a good, small QWERTY wireless keyboard this is the unit to get. BTW, don't get the Bluetooth version of this keyboard as it doesn't work well much more than 5-6 feet away. This unit works well even at 25 feet away.
