Was very excited when I received the hose and it looked like the durability/quality was decent, installed the bottom part of the hose with no problem at all, snapped right in. Then I tried to connect the upper part of the hose to the metal piece that slides down into the hose, it seemed like it would clip in ok but when trying to slide the metal piece down into the hose it would not budge... So I went and made sure that there was no dirt buildup or anything on the metal part that would be restricing it and got it looking like brand new, still didnt fit... Thinking that maybe it was just because that this was the first time installing and it would work itself in, I even went and got corn starch to make sure that the reason it wasnt going in was because it was brand new plastic and it was too sticky, STILL DIDNT FIT... Then I went and found the old hose that I was replacing and measured both pieces to make sure I wasnt crazy, it was about 1/8" or more smaller than the original so obviously wasnt anything I was doing. I did read in another review that some people were saying their "DC14 Animal" and I dont think that is what I have, but my model number on the vacuum is DC14... Who knows, tried to go cheaper but knew better, always stick with manufacturer parts, sure you can save a few bucks but this is the kind of crap you have to go through and we all know that the quality is inferior in aftermarket replacement parts...

Not sure what others were talking about, other than cosmetic differences couldn't really tell anything structurally different, snapped in place like it was made for it (get it?). Ridgid tube is snug in extension hose but as previously stated will likely "free-up" with use. May be thinner tube material, but having thicker material didn't keep the original from wearing out after two or three years of hard use, and one unwise move could tear up the 40 dollar unit as easily as the 20 dollar unit.

It took me all of 1 minute to swap it out. Replacement on a10 yr old vacuum. Fits fine, not tightness as some reviews have stated. The hose it self seems a little thinner then the original in my opinion. We will just see if I get another 10 yrs out of it.

The hose on my 2+ year-old DC14 broke and I thought I'd have to get a new vacuum cleaner, till I saw this replacement hose for such a reasonable price. It fits like a glove and, most amazingly, my DC14 is completely rejuvenated, even better than when it was new. Just vacuumed my house after installing the new hose and the suction seemed exponentially better, probably because I didn't realize that the original hose had been deteriorating and possibly leaking! Anyhow, I can't recommend a better way to put new life into an older Dyson DC14 than by getting this new replacement hose ... it sure is cheaper than buying a new Dyson! Oh, and don't pay attention to negative reviews about this hose not fitting properly. Not true! The fact that Dyson's parts are modular and can easily be replaced speaks volumes about the quality of the Dyson design. This hose snaps into place in mere seconds.

I"ve had my DC14 for many years and hated having to spend $50 for a new hose (especially since the last hose only lasted just over a year). This hose fits great; I had no problems with the retraction or getting a good connection.

I was excited to find an aftermarket product; however, when I received it I discovered the end that clicks onto the wand is not the right size and the wand will not slide in and out. I returned the product and continue to hold my original hose together with electrical tape. If you have a DC-14 Dyson don't buy this aftermarket vacuum hose assembly
