Im a massage therapist & treat patients with varying conditions, including athletes and myself. I use it for varying stretches & techniques while visiting patients or just to stretch my own back in uncommon angles. It did arrive slightly warped, but I attribute it to the mailman leaving the package under the hot Miami sun on a very hot day. Its not a heavy thick rubber, so keep away from extensive heat.

These are really great massage balls!! I love the 4" size to put under my neck and let my head hang (if you have a bigger/longer neck, 5" may work better). It slowly adjusts my whole body and provides wonderful meditation time. It's also great for getting up under the shoulder blades, etc.

a lot of variability in manufacturing. i have one ball from a couple of years ago that kept air well. i got a couple in june 2013 which have never held air well, plastic feels a different consistency than a couple of years ago. i'm hesitant to try again.

When my neck starts to feel tweaked the first thing I do is lay on this ball. It relieves so much tension and pain. Yes, you are supposed to do so under the advisement of the doctor...but I this ball is the best acupressure-like massage that I can do solo. If you are slow and careful it can help on all tense shoulders, hips/glutes, etc. Bought this from my chiropractor originally, but I had to replace it after leaving it at a hotel. It is that essential to my well-being!!

Being an individual with poor mobility and some SI joint issues, I've got some pretty tight muscles. Most things I can iron out with a lacrosse ball or jump-stretch band. However, the psoas is a tough area to loosen up. This ball has worked perfectly for me. It is large enough to get into the deep areas where the psoas is. Basically, I just lay face down on the ground with this ball on my stomach and find the tender spots.

I am 6 feet tall and 225 lbs and this 4 inch ball has worked great for me.
