I've borrowed this from a friend for hotpot over the weekend. The pot portion of the item is very light and almost feels flimsy. Also, it took a quite a long while for the water to come to boil even after pre-heating the water on the stove first. The temperature control for the hotpot is off-low-high, and the highest temperature doesn't seem all that hot.

The grill on top is for the lack of a better word, cute. It is very small, around 6 1/2 inches in diameter and fits very few meat pieces. The heat switch for the grill is also on-off, so you can't raise or lower the temperature. I found that the pieces of pork belly took quite a while to cook; the thinner slices of chadol (beef brisket) cooked at a reasonable rate for consumption, but again, due to the small size you could fit at max 2 pieces at a time.

Our hotpot group was 3 people, and I wouldn't try to feed any more than 3 people with this pot, especially if grilled meat is a big concern. If you treat the grilled meat as something on-the-side to nibble on, you could probably feed up to 4 people at a reasonable rate. One last thing to mention is that the piece is powered by an electric cord, which is not all that long; you'll probably need an extension cord to use it unless you happen to have an electrical outlet right next to your table.

Overall, I prefer the classic butane stove + pot or butane stove + cast iron griddle for hotpot/BBQ respectively and I don't think the price point of this item is quite worth it.

Very cool, or should I say hot?! We first used it for shabu shabu, then used the broth to for ramen noodle. Best ramen since back to Japan! Nothing beats the real thing, but this definitely comes close. Shipping was a little slow, be we received it one day before the 4th of July, so the timing was perfect! :) Highly recommend for anyone missing this. We did not use the grille on top, because we purchased the Livart Orange Grille used especially for grilling. For people complaining about this, it's obvious they are unfamiliar with how to use this product. I think this is a 5 star item and deserves a good review. To purchase something from States without a long wait, this is very good. This is not advertised as professional, commercial or chef quality. However, it worked perfect for the time we used it. We will continue to enjoy in the future.

This is not our first hot pot; but our first with the grill on top. Everything was going well when we started using it, including the top grill which we like a lot. All of a sudden, we started hearing a popping sound. It turned out that there's a leak in the pot and the water was hitting the hot heating base which made the popping sound. This is a result of poor design. The pot is made up of 2 parts, welded together. If you don't get the leak at first, I'm sure you will get it sooner or later. I'm now in the process of returning this unit to MV Trading (through Amazon), which I'm sure will not be a problem. Meanwhile, I've placed an order for another hot pot.

Listen to the reviews when they tell you the pot LEAKS. If it doesn't leak at first, it'll leak sooner or later.
Mine leaked right out the box. Where does it leak onto? It leaks onto the heating unit. It was so embarrassing gifting this to my sister and have her call me three months later to tell me it's defective and right after the warranty runs out too. They should have longer warranty like 6 years. If a pot can only be waranteed 3 months, what does that tell you about how well it works.

It heats up fast,and works good. The only thing I don't like it's the grill portion doesn't have a drain for grease. When cooking a fatty protein like bacon or pork belly, the grease pops in everyone's face. Traditionally, bbq grills like this will drain the grass into the soup, adding flavor and preventing popping (moo ga ta).

Love this Steamboat and grill! I fill the bowl with chicken broth, garlic, and dried shitake mushrooms. I use the grill for chicken bulgogi and have guest cook their own on the grill. Thinly slice veggies and noodles for the hotpot. Great hit with the family!

It's a nice hotpot that has a center grill. Best serves 4 people. It stains easily and the sink unit that holds the liquid is pretty thin. I think the whole unit is overpriced and shouldn't cost more than $50.
