First time with clipless. I admit I was a bit worried, just turning 46, but an old dog can learn new tricks. Tried on multiple shoe brands at LBS tent sale and was a 46 in all of them (11 -11.5 mens size). Took a chance and ordered these online and indeed I was a 46 (some reviews suggested the shoes are sized odd, but really don't see that at all). They're heavy like most SPDs, but feel more comfortable on my feet than the road style shoes with cleats on bottom. Come with SH-51, but I bought the SH-56 cleats to allow me to clip out by twisting either direction. Paired with XT PD-M785 pedals with easy spring tension adjustments with allen wrench. It's already WAY easier to get my tires off the ground. When you're my age you'll take every advantage you can get. Can't wait to pass my son on the uphill. Shoes were $20 cheaper at Jenson online.

I've ridden flats for over 20 years. All-mountain, freeride, dirtjump background. I have since started riding a lot more xc and wanted to try clips. I wanted a flat sole shoe for off the bike hiking.

This shoe is perfect, super stiff sole, and very water resistent. The shield keeps puddles from blasting straight in the laces. The shoe is still breathable and not too hot.

I ride this shoe with Time Z pedals. Perfect match for some aggressive xc or All mountain riding.

I bought these because I want to ride into the colder weather here in the Northeast and the shoes I wear all summer are just too ventilated. These shoes are comfortable, warm and protective. I've had them a week and rode about 250 miles of semi-rough rail trails and gravel canal paths with them so far. Easy to walk in as well.

Really love these shoes. I cycle to work, sometimes in minus temperatures celcius and now I don't need to put on my overshoes unless it is wet. They are a little heavy but that is no problem if you are using them as a commuter shoes and when you cycle in snow and difficult conditions. I bought them one size bigger the usual so I could wear thick socks. Just what I wanted.

I just got through a cold and soggy Pittsburgh winter, and these shoes kept my feet very warm. Couple then with some Gator fleece-lined neoprene socks and some Bar Mitts and you can ride through any elements. The velcro flap makes it so I didn't need to double-knot the laces, which makes tying and untying with gloved fingers easy.

I will admit this is my first pair of clip ins in 12 years but they were just what I was looking for. Though they could be a little lighter. True to size and a great shoe for all mountain riding.

I recently broke my ankle in a mountain bike accident...The shimano SH-AM 45 gives me the stability and protection I need for my ankle.
