I was looking for a cold tea brewing apparatus that would handle both loose leaf and bagged tea. I was disappointed with the challenge in cleaning the bottom from tea sediment. I also found that I had to hold the lid tightly while pouring and lift the jar up high enough for the tea to pour through the lip of the jar quickly to avoid slowly pouring the tea with low volume to avoid spill from around the lid and overwhelming the lip of the jar with liquid. Great concept will be looking for something else. Cons for me: ease of cleaning and ease of pouring.

There are some kitchen devices that you look at and think- "Oh, Brother. What a stupid waste of money. I would never bother with one of those" Well, this tea jug was one of those. I thought it was a ridiculous idea and that it looked so fragile that I would never waste my money on such a stupid thing.

That was a couple of years ago. I now own two of these lovely pitchers and I must say every time I use them, I am DELIGHTED.

WHAT IS THIS GLASS TEA JUG LIKE?
We have both the 34 ounce and the 50 ounce version, and this review works for both as they are the same other than size.

This glass is the borosilicate glass- the kind that you see mugs and tea pots you can see through. It is slim so that it will sit on the refrigerator door. The handle is not overly thick, but it is not so thin that it will snap off in a minute. The lid is comprised of three parts- the silicone gasket, a circular screen, and a plastic lid that presses into the pitcher which filters out solids when you pour it.

HOW DO YOU USE THIS PITCHER?
This pitcher has instructions for both hot and cold tea brewing. I prefer using it for cold tea only. First I put in tea enough to cover the bottom of the jug. It is not overly deep- perhaps up to a half inch, depending on what tea I am using. I use room temperature water and fill up the pitcher to where the neck narrows at the top. Then I press the cover into the top like a plug and put it in the refrigerator. The tea is ready in about five hours, but I tend to prefer overnight.

HOW DOES THIS PITCHER PERFORM?
I must say after making a huge variety of all different teas in this tea jug, the best mix for me is a mix of fruit tisane and some herbal teas.Read more ›

I was looking for a small pitcher that I could make ice-tea in small portions at at time. I have a few pitchers but I love that this one has a lid to keep refrigerator food smells from absorbing. The lid serves as a strainer if you choose to use loose tea instead of tea bags. My kitchen is turquoise and this is a perfect match!

This tea jug is super cute and the perfect size for two! We love using it for lemon water in winter and sun tea in summer. The size at first felt a little small but I think it's better "refreshing" it with new stuff every few days anyways. Cute color and quality. Definitely recommend.

This is a wonderful jug for green tea. I add my loose green, a cup of boiling water, followed immediately by cold water to the top. I keep in the fridge that way, and if I want hot green tea, I just pour a mug and then heat in microwave and it comes out perfect.
