After searching for the best price and looking at the reviews I finally chose this water filter. I noticed that it had a few bad reviews but you will see that with most items. Sometimes people get a badly manufactured item or maybe they don't know how to use what they have purchased. I must say this item worked just as well as the manufacturers filter. Water is clean, clear and tastes great. It took several gallons of water for the air and cloudy water to clear up but after that it has been perfect. I would recommend and will buy again!!!

Perfect replacment

I've bought two of these now and I love them. I think other reviews that talk about murkiness and coloration haven't read the instructions that tell you to flush up to four gallons of water through it before drinking. I've never had to do that much. I ran about a gallon through both times and now my water is tasting sweet! It's just my wife and I so we go up to a year with one and the flavor never got bad. With name brands costing almost twice as much, you can't go wrong with this.

Makes my public water taste much better than the pool water it really smells like.

Can't speak to the ability to remove the harmful things you can't see (which shouldn't be there anyway) but my public water here in North Atlanta smells and tastes like swimming pool water. This filter makes it much better to drink which is why I bought them.

Mint Water?

Like so many others here, I decided to give this water filter a try. Amana's are so much more expensive, so I really wanted to save some money since I drink quite a lot of water. The weird thing is that from day one with the Aqua Fresh filter, my water has had a slightly minty flavor. That doesn't sound so bad, but when you think about it, what on earth is in this filter to add a flavor of any kind to my water. And believe me, mint is not a taste that goes with everything. Like some others who have written reviews, I assumed the odd flavor might go away after some use. Not at all. It's time to replace the filter, it still tastes weird, and I will not be ordering this one again. I'll just have to bite the bullet and splurge on the Amana Clean n' Clear. I can't wait to have water that tastes clean and pure again.

Skeptical about the EcoAqua water filter

Bought this to replace an Aqua Fresh model that I had purchased last year. It fit the refrigerator so it met spec in that sense, but the locking mechanism seemed less secure (it was a different design with significantly less material). Also it was shorter than the model it was replacing (again, less material). When I first ran water through it, a few globs of light colored material came out, which has never happened with any other water filter I've owned. So, while I AM drinking water out of it (after running at least 3 gallons through it) I still look suspiciously at the water before I drink it (I remain skeptical). I see that AquaFresh has been bought and rebranded several times in the last year, which is another red flag for me. Anyway, next time I will look for another brand.

It broke my fridge

I bought this filter thinking it was a great bargain, and after all, what could go wrong?
I mean, it is just a filter... it has no mechanical parts... if it doesn't do the job, I throw it away, and all I lost is about $20, right? Worth the try.
Well, not quite. I installed in my fridge. Easy. But very little (just a trickle) water was coming out. And whatever was coming out, was brown. So I thought, "no big deal, just filter a few gallons until it comes clean, and that'd do it". I left the water dispenser on while it was coming brown, it ended up with no water coming out at all, and now it doesn't work even if I put the old filter back. I think it burned a solenoid (I have no clue, but I don't hear a noise that I used to). Beautiful.
Was it my fault? May be, but if you need to do something special with this thing, they should explain it before we keep on breaking more fridges.

Same as manufacturer's--Much better price

Purchasing the manufacturer's water filters would cost $150 a year.
That's too much to pay for water-through-the-door when the water quality is
already very good. This filter's specifications are exactly the same at one-quarter
the price. This is an excellent deal.

As Good as Original

This filter complies with both NSF42 AND NSF53. This is better than the lightly less expensive WSA-1 which only complies to NSF42.

aqua fresh water filter

have been using it for several years on an Amana refrigerator/freezer. can't tell the differencebetween it and the costly Amana filter. Probably the same manufacturer.
