I love cast iron skillets and pans, so my opinion may be a little biased. I like the "gill" because it is perfect for meat and veggies that you want the grill marks on. The #8 lid from the 10 1/2 inch pots fits perfectly and the Lodge brand is high quality as always. Cast iron is not only healthy, they last a life time, are super easy to clean and heat evenly. Very happy with the purchase.

I grill steaks, fish, and bacons using this pan. It pairs wonderfully with a press if you want your bacon flat. The drain pout is good for dumping excess oil/grease from the pan. the grill will leave marks when searing the outside of a steak. Grilling will also leave food bits stuck between grill lines, too.

Here's how you can clean it easily:

After grilling, i stir fry sliced onion and mushrooms (i pick a box with smaller size and wash but not cut them) using the left over grease. After onions and mushrooms are nicely browned and soft, the pan will be clear of any gunk. What's left is just a wipe using paper towel and the pan is good to go for the next run.

Try it, stir fry something that will yield juice after your grilling. You will never have to scrap the pan again.

This is my goto grill pan in my kitchen. I use this for almost any meat I cook. Its a little rough to get used to cleaning cast iron as opposed to a normal pan. However this cooks my food thoroughly and well and is my most used cooking pan in my house. I was especially pleased with the price compared to the other cast iron pans out there. I have had no issues and use this regularly and often.

I got this pan to serve as an indoor grill when using my Weber 586002 Q 320 Portable 393-Square-Inch 21700-BTU Liquid-Propane Gas Grill outside was not an option. I can cook on the Lodge pan using similar methods as the Weber and get similar results, though the flavor from the Lodge is not quite as good as on the outdoor grill.

I got the Lodge GC10 Tempered Glass Lid, 10.25-inch as well and use that when cooking. I highly recommend it, even if you have some other lid that might come close to fitting. The glass lid does a much better job than leaving the pan uncovered or using some other generic lid that might not create as good a seal. The glass lid lets you see what you are cooking without lifting it up and it keeps all steam and smoke in the pan with very little escaping out. It also does not rattle like lighter lids while steam attempts to escape. This keeps the house fresher and whatever I'm cooking moister and more evenly cooked.

The pan is cast iron so same comments as everyone else. It is heavy, will rust if not cared for properly, and needs to be seasoned even though it is pre-seasoned. This is all to be expected from cast iron.

I use Extra Light Olive Oil to season and cook with, though it isn't the cheapest oil out there. I actually use the Walmart brand which was rated very well. It has a very high smoke point, I think 485F, and is probably the best mix of mono-saturated fats in a cooking oil.

I had purchased two other grill pans previously. The first was a non-stick. Like all the non-stick I've ever owned after a short time the coating began to release. I never used it above medium high heat. It was just too easy to damage. I later purchased an anodized aluminum pan. I was able to use this pan for a little more than a year with pretty good results but in time it became harder to clean and eventually warped even though I never used more than medium high heat.

After reading the reviews here I decided to purchase this Lodge cast iron pan. I have used other cast iron pans in the past and I was already familiar with the cleaning and seasoning procedures and that they really don't need as much heat as other types of pans..

Frankly after using this for a little over 2 weeks, I'm not sure why I didn't just get this first. I love to grill burgers, chicken, steaks and fish. It works great. Clean up is really pretty easy if your used to cast iron. The quality is outstanding as all the Lodge products I've previously owned and the Amazon shipping was very fast.

A few notes. This pan is pretty small. It holds about four burgers or a couple of steaks or chicken breasts. Its plenty big for me cause I'm just cooking for myself and maybe a friend but for a family one of the larger pans might work better.

If you're looking for a grill pan just buy one.

I have just gone back to cast iron after many years of stupid cookware of all types. This grill pan requires very little heat once heated. Do not over heat and it will heat and broil evenly. No cold spots. Cast iron cookware was great in the 60,s and better in 2012. Wash with water, lite soap and a round brush, rinse, dry completely and oil, rub off excess.
