This will prevent anyone from rolling your scooter away. But a serious thief will be coming with a truck and just pick it up, or be able to pick this lock, or crack it off. Still, it makes me feel better. A little tricky the first couple times you use it, but once you figure out how it fits, it's super quick to install.

Most importantly, it's small enough to bring along in my Vespa's glove compartment and easy enough to do that I'll *actually* use it. And any little bit you WILL do is way better than any mega safety step you WON'T bother to take.

One trick - I can slide the end loops of a cable lock onto the brake and wrap that around an object for one more layer of safety. Depending on your helmet, it's also possible to hang it from the brake by the D-rings to lock it on the same way.

Great product, works quite simply. It was hard to turn the lock (especially after it got rained on) until I lubricated the keyhole and lock mechanism. Also, it doesn't quite "fit into pockets" but it is small enough to conveniently stow most places.

Fortunately, I've never had to see how much damage it can withstand, but it is a conspicuous warning that I use in conjunction with my disc brake locks.

I order the Grip-Lock after looking around for an extra bit of security for my new scooter. The Grip-Lock works great. It's larger than I expected and comes in a plastic cylinder with 2 keys and some extra plastic bits to make sure it fits your hand grip.

Close to the hinge you can see a black rubber lining. These are removable and have 3 pieces with differing widths so you can remove them and mix and match your hand grip for a nice snug fit. The instructions state that you can glue these in place which I would suggest only when you are sure you have the right fit in place. They can fall out pretty easily when the lock is in your storage if it gets bounced around while you ride so just make sure to make sure you don't drop them on the ground you don't glue them.

Closer to the middle of the lock is a section where you depress your front brake and place it. This ensures that your wheel wont roll when the lock is on. It's adjustable as well in case you have tight brakes or maybe a different shape. I didn't have to adjust it at all from it's default position.

The keys are high quality and have "do not duplicate" on them so no one can swipe it and make a copy later.

The locking mechanism is high quality. You close the Grip-Lock in position and then push your key inward and twist it close. It makes it fool-proof to tell whether your lock is engaged or not.

One of the only issues I had is when unlocking. I made sure that my fit is tight so there is some pressure on the locking mechanism so I have to squeeze the whole Grip-lock just a bit to get it to unlock. I don't mind it at all because it make me feel like it's working quite well.Read more ›

When it's above a 100 degrees, the last thing I want to do is bend down to the hot pavement and put on a lock and chain. Yes, it's only plastic and wouldn't take that long to get through, but I was astounded at how quickly my husband was able to cut open a padlock for me recently. So I think that between locking the handlebars and putting this on as well, it's just another thing to slow down someone who wants to steal something quickly. As others have mentioned, once you figure out which rubber inserts fit your bike, gluing them in place (I used E6000) makes this a breeze to put on and take off.

I bought two of these and one broke within 4-5 months (lock stuck closed and would not open no matter what. nobody ever tampered with it), leaving me stranded. I had to use a hacksaw to free my scooter. I hope the second one doesn't do this some day also. Unreliable.

Contacted seller and they informed me of a known defect with early models which has since been resolved. They promptly sent a replacement lock. Great customer service, I am satisfied with the resolution.

I like this product. It serves as a visual theft deterrent. I use it on my scooter, and while it's not going to stop thieves from loading your ride into the back of a truck and driving off with it, it does make it quite difficult to ride away. I opted for this rather than a wheel lock, because as absent minded as I am, it would just be a matter of time before I forgot to disengage a wheel lock and tried to drive away with it, resulting in a damaged scooter.

I was looking for something I could quickly snap onto my motor scooter when I was making a quick stop and didn't want to take the time to pull out the heavy chain and lock assembly. This handle lock serves that purpose. Again, it won't stop someone from lifting the scooter off the ground, throwing it into the back of a truck and driving away with it, but it will keep someone from trying to roll off with it attempting to jump start it.

This is so easy to use that I find myself putting it on all the time. I don't know if the plastic casing will prevent a determined thief from stealing my Vespa, but as the old joke goes...I don't have to run faster than the bear...I just have to run faster than you! I got the Grip-Lock in the very visible yellow and while it may not deter a professional, it probably will convince a would be joy rider or less polished thief to try their hand on someone else's bike.
The main advantage of the Grip-Lock is that once it's set up for your bike, it's very quick and easy to use and is a very visible deterrent. It won't prevent someone from picking the bike up and moving it, but it locks the throttle and front brake, so rolling it somewhere won't be easy.
Very happy with this purchase, including the quick delivery.
