I bought this because I was seduced by how much this tuner does. Unfortunately, the instructions are a joke, and the product isn't intuitive. It's a real pain to use, and even when you get it to work the digital display is difficult to see. It also feels cheap and will likely crack the first time it's dropped.

Don't waste your money. I've gone back to using the cheap clip-on on the guitar.

Straight forward to use (though not intuitive, if you read the directions it's real simple to use), LOTS of options including display type (strobe, fine, etc), alternate tunings (Drop-D for instance), a backlight (so the display is easy to see under any conditions), etc. Has both a cable pass thru and a microphone.

I had no problems seeing the display, nor in getting it to read notes from either the built-in mic or the 1/4" jack from a variety of guitars and instruments. Worked as well or better and was faster than my other tuners including a Korg, a GFS and several Snarks (SN-1, SN-5 & SN-8).

One of the really, really cool things this tuner can do is in the chromatic mode It not only tells you the note that is playing, but it tells you the octave of that note (for example I'm able to hit notes as low as 1E and as high as 5A with my voice, that's a 3 octave range, though I don't know if that's good or bad). This is real useful for tuning other types of instruments such as a tubulum and ensuring you are tuning in the correct octave.

The only real weak point on this tuner is the metronome, it's fairly quiet and can easily be drowned out while playing. But I use a drum machine on a Zoom multifunction pedal so don't really use it for that anyways.

This is my new favorite tuner! I've picked up a spare at this price, and one for a friend who's building a tubulum and has been vexed by other tuners that don't show the octave of the notes it detects. The Tascam webpage for this product shows it's been discontinued, so what's in the retail channel is it.

James

Edit 6/6/2014- There is the annoying tendency for the meter to register the G string on the bass guitar when I'm tuning the E string!

As a tuner it works fine, but it is really hard to see the display. Why couldn't they have included a few LEDs to show when you are in tune? The quasi-strobe display is impossible to use. The metronome is quite useless. You can't hear it over music or background noise, it doesn't play through the output jack, and again the display is useless. The LCD metronome moving back and forth is more distracting than helpful; moreover, it is not synchronized with the sound!
