Anticipated to get a store grade product under the brand of Tetra at such high price. However, it is a 3rd grade product that I have received and of course it is "Made in China". The light emission is poor, so does the result for killing algae in the pond. At this grade level, there are many others out there selling at much cheaper price. It is a total waste of money to get this at this price.

Our family has had several freshwater fish tanks over the last 25 years and work hard to maintain a healthy environment for our sealife. The one challenge we face is that, since we like a house with lots of windows, at some time during the day sun will pass over the tank. While we have plenty of places for the fish to 'hide' if they desire to, we still have to deal with the resulting green algae from time-to-time. The TetraPond UVC-5 Clarifier (TetraPond UVC-5 Clarifier) has been our solution for at least the last 10 years, and we would recommend it highly. This bulb is TertraPond's replacement bulb for that unit, and it does its job well.

If you would like to see a picture of the Clarifier underneath our tank, go back to the unit's main sales page, scroll down to where the "Most Helpful Customer Reviews" section starts, then look to the right of that area for the "Product Images From Customers" section. Took a shot to show how it is situated.

We keep the flow rate of the pump connected to this light at a moderate rate, allowing time for the UV light to do its thing as the water passes by. As long as the UV light bulb is fresh, the rig works very well and it does not leak. Water feeds from the reservoir of our bio-ball based filtration system, and passes by this light on the way back up to the tank. We try to follow the TetraPond guidelines and replace the UV bulb once a year with their bulb.

This might seem overkill for a 72 gallon bowfront tank, but our fish stay healthy and live long lives, while our water remains crystal clear and algae-free.

I bought this lamp as a replacement for the UV lamp inside of my TetraPond UVC-9 UV clarifier.
It was a good idea to have a spare. The expected life of these lamps is about 10-11 months, so eventually I will have to replace the lamp.
The wattage (9 watt) is good enough for my pond (about 4 cubic meters capacity), just as recommended by TetraPond.

Have had a koi pond several years now. A novice at the beginning, I resisted the purchase of a UV, because they were not cheap, and I doubted the claim that it would pretty much put an end to green water. I battled algae the first year, with enzymes, bacteria, water changes, and brushes to scrape around the pond and remove the masses of string algae - a constant battle that I kept losing. Finally gave in and purchased the UV - my pond is only 1,500 gallons, but I figured bigger is better (same rule of thumb for filters, by the way) so I got the 36 watt. Huge difference; no more green water, and algae under control.

I think all these uv lamps are the same with just Tetra, Fishmate, etc. stamped at the base. They all look identical and are made in China (probably at the same factory). Just buy the cheapest one listed. Used it on my Fishmate uv filter that I also purchased on Amazon.

All was good apparently, and it does a fine job with the algae, but it only lasted 3 months, now to figure out warranty replacements
EDIT April 29th: Well, there is no warranty replacement for this one, they only accept returns or replacement withing the first 2 months, so what happens next? the bulb quits the 3rd month and you have the option of shipping this garbage to Amazon for a partial refund, of course, you pay for shipping the bulb to them...
Tetra's Chinese UV light bulb is something you wont see anywhere near my pond, way overpriced for such low quality bulb, avoid this one, you better off with pretty much anything else out there, I mean, it does not get much worst than this, it is like a timed failure just after the warranty expires...
