Staedtler Mars Lumograph pencils are silky smooth going on the paper and easy to erase. These are my go to pencil for portrait drawing. A little more price, but well worth the quality you receive. They have a nice feel in the hand with their glossy enamel coating and look very professional, too. The graphite is of the highest quality and that means no scratches on your paper as you draw. The HB is a medium weight lead for drawing medium tones and shadows. This is the standard lead weight of the common school pencil. The bonded graphite leads have never broken on me to date, and I have been using these since 2011. I have attached the first work I did with these pencils.
