I loved it at first... but I guess you get what you pay for

I loved the chain type & length. The cage for the pearl was wonderful. I had my own pearl to put in it since the pearl in the oyster isn't round but I was in love with this necklace until the finish started coming off. I have only had it a couple of weeks and almost half of the necklace now has a pinkish color... it looks terrible. I'm asking my husband to find me something like this a a jeweler since I love the concept but need better quality. still overall a fun gift and if you don't plan to wear it every day like I did then maybe you will have a better experience with this necklace then I did.

So Cool!

I bought three of these for my nieces for Christmas. They loved them. Oyster comes sealed in a pop-top can. It is encased in some stinky liquid and it is also a little difficult to pry out the pearl from the oyster (adult help needed) but the girls thought it was very cool! Easy to assemble in the necklace.

It was totally dried up (updated again)

*UPDATE!* 6/29/2014 The company was kind enough to send me a replacement quickly, with no problems. However, the replacement was the same, as the liquid and mussel were completely dried up. The chain in the replacement was not rusted like the other, and the box seemed to be a bit cleaner, but this was still not an adequate item, in my mind, to give as a gift. Such a wonderful idea, but not great on quality here from my experience. I do like the great customer service that seemed happy to help me quickly, which is what gained it a star.

*UPDATE!* 6/8/2014 I sent the info in to Amazon, who emailed the seller. They promptly got back to me in a few hrs to offer a replacement. Very nice and speedy customer service, very appreciated! I will update with more info when I have it.

(Initial review)6/7/2014 When this arrived, I noticed something was rattling around inside the box! This was meant to be a gift, but I was worried about the items inside, so I went ahead and opened it. The liquid had completely dried up, as well as the mussel inside. The pearl was rattling around in the can and the shell had chipped apart. I also noticed that about 1/4 inch of the necklace, near the clasp was brown and rusted and the inside of the box was filthy. This was pretty much trash when it arrived and I'm glad that I checked it before giving it to my mother for her Birthday. It would have been very humiliating to have given this to her.

I bought this Love Wish Pearl Kit - Harvest Your Own Pearl from Amazon.com two weeks before my mothers birthday (the 14th). I found this product from a flash sale online and I thought it would be a really, really neat gift to give. And it really is!

What I liked about it:
- Cheaper than what they sell for at the mall (and themeparks), plus its even more priceless to the recipient.
- You can harvest your own real pearl from a real oyster, how awesome is that!?
- There is not one same size and/or shape pearl from these kits.
- Perfect gift for any occasion for all ages and everyone like kids, teenagers, adults, grandparents, coworkers, friends, girlfriend, fiancé, wife or parents.

What I didn't like:
- Liquid in where the oyster is suspended in might "smell" (I give it like a 2.5/5 on how bad it smelled) once you open it.

Some tips:
- Open the oyster near a sink to drain the liquid immediately after opening the can.
- Have something hard and flat (like a butter knife) ready for easy opening. I honestly didn't find the one it comes with this kit.
- Do not keep the packaging (with the oyster can) in a hot and humid place, as I assumed it contributed to smelling even more and may also cause the oyster to open inside the can thus making the pearl float around the liquid.. ruining the surprise and fun of opening. I kept the package in my backpack for about three days while we were in Vegas over the weekend (but it wasn't touched or shaken, I assume) and this happened, real bummer.Read more ›

When i fist heard about the Love Wish Pearl kit i was very exciting !!! The box its very cute it, it comes with the oyster in a can and a nacklace to put the pearl inside ! When you first open the can it doesnt smell fish at all ... It has a alchool like smell, its fine ! The oyster was close very thight what is a good point because nobody opened it ! I took a knife to open it and i got an white pearl not exactly round in a very good size !! The nacklace im not crazy about it but i know that you can choose differents nacklace !!
The experience its very nice... It would be a good gift ..

I was disappointed with this

Got it as a gift for my 10 year old neice last Christmas and she loves it. The pearl however was misshapen, I was disappointed with this, but you don't notice once it's in the necklace. She wasn't disappointed with it at all and was so happy to own a real pearl.
