I really love this curling iron. Mostly, because it's so ergonomically designed, making it strain-free and comfortable to use. Also, it is light-weight, which I love because my arms, hands and wrists don't get fatigued. This is especially important when you want to curl your entire head of hair. And it does the job -- curls my hair when I wrap it and smooths my bangs when I pull them thru. I would definitely recommend.
THE BARREL: The barrel is silky smooth and your hair will glide through it. It makes my hair shiny -- I think because it is so smooth it doesn't snag the hair cuticle. It gets hot fast, which is important to me because I'm always running late. I like the tapered "flattened" tip -- it is textured so you can grip it, yet because it's tapered, I can easily pull the iron out of the curl.
HANDLE: At first, I was disconcerted with the long handle, but I discovered it is perfect. It makes the entire iron "well balanced" -- in both weight and design. The handle length makes it easy to reach the back of your hair and hold it there in comfort. The design makes it so it won't slip either out of your hand or towards the hot barrel.
BARREL CLAMP: The barrel clamp is tight enough to hold your hair in, but not too tight that it crimps your hair or snags it (causing hair to break). I like to slide my bangs thru it to semi-straighten them, so I don't want a super strong spring. Finally, The plastic end of the clamp where you release it is wide and textured so it's easy to find and use.
CORD: The cord is 360 degree swivel and long enough to maneuver the iron around your head.

I usually go by reviews and in this case I got this on a whim. I also bought the Hot Tools Pro curling iron that has an incredible amount of great reviews, however, I was not so psyched with the product. With the Hot Tools one it was hard to pull my hair away from the clamp to prevent creasing (super annoying.) The Babyliss one was easy to use, heats up nicely, and doesn't stick to your hair. I absolutely love it. I would recommend this curling iron to anyone looking to get a nice pro one for fairly inexpensively. It creates beautiful large curls with lots of body. Very happy!

So I love that this has different heat settings, and it works pretty well and easily. However there's a few issues.

1) The on/off button is in a terrible place. It's a slider, so I'm constantly accidentally sliding it into the off position with the side of my fingers. Seriously annoying.

2) The curls don't always last very long, which means I have to turn up the heat more...which is obviously not my preference for my hair

3) The tip of the curling iron gets too hot...sometimes i need to grab it to curl better and I burn my finger

4) The barrel is a bit too short for my long hair, but not terrible. However, my ends end up too hot and the roots not enough.

Haven't decided if I'm going to return it yet, but I might.

So it al started with the Portafino hair dryer. $100 on a blow dryer and my husband thought I was crazy, but it is and was WORTH EVERY PENNY. Then the Babyliss straight iron, next the 1 1/2" curling iron, and now finally I just purchased this. I cannot say enough good things about this product line.

I have been hair obsessed since 13. I have wavy hair that tends to frizz. I started my straightening routine at 13. Since then I've become a hair junkie. I do just about everything to my hair you can think of: straight and sleek, soft and bouncy waves, relaxed beach waves, crazy up-dos, messy styles, bangs, no bangs, fishtails, knot buns, etc etc. I'm a walking Pinterest board. Lol. I love hair!!

I need good tools.

For me, Babyliss products are far and above the best. The heat settings are excellent: varied, consistent, and super hot. They are professional tools, so there's no auto shut off. Be responsible with your tools ladies! I had to learn the hard way! Haha. One good scare usually does the trick! The barrel is smooth: I almost never get a random hair caught. I mean, like, it has happened once or twice in a years worth of usage. The cords are long and I've never had an issue with them.

Really, it's something you have to try to fully understand. After year and years of using drug store consumer irons and dyers, upgrading to these has made a HUGE difference to my routine, the versatility and staying power if styles, and overall ease.

I only use babyliss curling irons. Rapid heating. Heats evenly, gives me nice curls and it never dries out or burns my hair. I curl my hair everyday and i always have nice bouncy curls and get compliments on how shiny my hair is. This is the third babyliss iron i've owned and i only stick to this brand

I have just about every iron in the babybliss collection except the flat iron. They are awesome and better than the Chi curling iron...because the chi iron doesnt last long and the clasp gets stuck...These irons get suuuuper hot but no matter the setting they leave your hair with this awful perm smell that I cannot get out of my hair...it kinda defeats the purpose of spending extra on great smelling shampoo because soon as you style your hair it covers it up with that horrible permy smell again :(
