I bought a couple of different mirrors to tow a new 8' wide trailer. This is one of them. The suction cup really holds if you clean your regular mirror's glass and don't leave it too wet. Pretty amazing. Also, the fact that you can adjust your towing mirror from the inside (assuming your regular mirror is motorized) is wonderful. The cons are that what you see in your regular mirror is probably not what you really want, and you have that suction cup taking up quite a lot of the space where you normally look. So this towing mirror may or may not fit your bill... I ended up with a pair of McKesh mirrors in the end as none of the add-ons reached far enough out.

I bought 1 of these, then a 2nd one after testing the first. So I was happy enough with the Tow-N-See to buy that 2nd mirror, and got 2 for less than the price of a single, more expensive type of towing mirror with straps and door hooks, etc. As noted in another review, the Tow-N-See may intersect the lip around the mirror of your vehicle, depending on how "deep" that lip may be and how you have the factory mirror adjusted. You want to mount the suction cup as far out on the mirror as possible to get the widest view. Depending on your vehicle, that lip may hit the bar of this mirror at certain adjustment angles. However, if you buy the wideangle "Convex" mirror (not the other Tow-N-See model which is flat, not convex) this should be less of an issue. It "sees" wide enough even when not at optimum adjustment due to the wideangle convex view. Anyway, if in doubt, try it and if it won't work, amazon will take it back.

Tips for mounting: clean your mirror with windex or similar product. It will not stick well to a mirror with dirt/dust on it! Clean the suction cup too if dusty. The suction cup may be slightly deformed at first; try wetting it slightly, and/or warming it on your hand, or in your hot car for a few minutes. This makes it more flexible and increases suction. It will not mount well at cold temperatures. Make sure the screw device on the back of the suction cup is unscrewed most of the way before attempting to install. If you unscrew it too far, it will come off, no big deal, just put it back in the slot/hole and screw it in a bit. Press the (dampened, warmed) suction cup against the (clean) mirror, flat/flush as possible. Turn the screw device until quite tight. It's not hard but may take a little practice, and may drop off the first time or two you try to put it on.

This mirror (in particular, I greatly preferrred the field of view provided in the convex next to the view of the flat mirror) was a very nice mirror and helped improve the visability while towing a trailer. It was very easy to install and never came off, even driving 60mph with 40mph headwinds. The downside, however, was that to adjust our SUV mirrors properly (and thus align the trailer mirror, the lip of the mirror frame would hit the trailer mirror and couldn't be aligned properly. In addition, since we have power mirrors, the drag caused on the tow mirror would cause the mirror to move out of alignment.

So, if we had a mirror that didn't have a large lip on it and didn't move easily when this tow mirror was attached, we would have kept it. It did not, so we returned it. If they adjusted the tow mirror design to have a bend in the arm to fit around the SUV mirror lip, that would fix at least half of the problem.

The Camco Tow-N-See mirror are the best bang for the buck tow mirror on the market. Easy to use and safe. I've travel with them for more than a 1000km without any issue. One thing though you shouldn't put the suction cup at the end of the mirror as they advertise. When you do so the wind draft can move your car mirror at bottom end and the only way to put it back is manually but don't worry you won't loose your mirror extension. After I've learned my lessons I put the suction cup in the middle of my SUV mirror and it never moved again. Cheap, reliable and safe. What could ask?

I got a set of these for our 97 4Runner when we bought our 30ft ultra lite travel trailer. As noted by others if your mirrors are recessed from the housing very much these probably won't work. You've got maybe 1/2" or so that they can be recessed if it's more than that you'll have issues.

I drive commercially for a living. In a commercial vehicle your mirrors let you see the entire side of your vehicle and the adjacent lane. These won't even come close to that. On a good day you can tell if there's a vehicle in the adjacent lane - it will give you a little better idea of where the side of your vehicle is. That's about it though. It's nothing compared to what you'd get with a factory tow mirror or the mirrors on a commercial vehicle.

With our vehicle there isn't an aftermarket tow mirror and I have yet to see anything else I like better. It's not that I'm unhappy with them - there just isn't a lot you can do in situation like this and it's the best option I've found so far.

Regarding installation. I found cleaning the tow vehicle mirror and the suction cup with an eyeglass wipe is very helpful. If the suction cup seems a little stiff warm it up in the palm of your hand for a minute or so. The knob mechanism that you turn - you really have to crank on it. Couldn't get them to stick initially then discovered that you just screw them down really, really hard and haven't had a problem since. I've had them fall off once or twice - but no major problems in several long trips with them. None of the issues others have mentioned with vibration or moving the factory mirrors due to the wind/etc.
