This doesn't work properly. I plugged it into my new D7100, and the camera immediately fired off 10-15 shots in rapid succession! I unplugged it and replugged it, and the symptom did not repeat.

But then I tried using it normally, and it was disappointing. Pressing the button does fire the shutter, but then there's no image review.

I replaced this MECO product with the Fototech version (ASIN B00CCS3SLG) for $10, and it works properly. The Fototech does a half-press properly, fires the shutter properly, and I get an image review after every shot, just like I expect.

I swapped between the MECO and the Fototech versions several times to ensure that it wasn't just an intermittent connection problem or a random glitch, and the MECO failed every time while the Fototech worked every time. So I'm returning the MECO product for a refund.

Just took this out of the box, plugged it right into my Nikon D3100, and it works flawlessly! The plug stays in my camera nicely and the little hold switch is a nice touch. Great remote for the money. :)

Excellent product. Couldn't have asked for anything more for the price. Tried it on my Nikon D750 as soon as it arrived. It worked perfectly without a hitch.
You can hear and feel a distinct click when you lightly press the button, to indicate autofocus trigger. You then need to depress the button another quarter inch or so to fire the shutter. Also, you can push the button forward to locks it when it is fully depressed. Some reviews complained about the button getting locked accidentally. I found I had to push the button quite hard to get it to locked position without depressing it all the way down.
The body is made of light plastic (remember it costs only $6), but is nicely finished. The wire and the connector look solid. Though light, the overall construction is very nice. The unit comes with adequate instructions in English that is a bit peculiar, but quite understandable.
Can't comment on the longevity of the product since I just got it, but haven't found any cons so far. Very happy with the purchase.

I opened this one once and it's just a switch. No resistors, no transistors, no complicated circuitry. So why pay big bucks for the OEM? Wireless are also very inexpencive and work fine, but they use your flash holder unless you don't mind them hanging down the camera and you always need to worry about batteries or them starting to misfunction. Shis one is a must for anybody who photographs with a shutter speed longer than 1/250 sec. Even the tripod cannot eliminate the shake of pressing the shutter button...

I was looking for a wired remote release for my Nikon D5000 and this product fits the bill. While the "feel" is a bit flimsy, it is a great value for the price and works great. I like the fact that it works very similar to the regular shutter release and provides functionality that is not available using a wireless release. My favorite aspect of this product is that it doesn't require going into the camera menu and specifically setting the unit to utilize a remote. You simply plug it in and you are ready to go. The only issue I had was that the plug is rectangular, so you can plug it in one of two ways. But it only works in one orientation. I originally thought I had received a defective unit until I flipped the plug. Then it worked flawlessly. There was nothing in the instructions to indicate that a specific plug orientation may be an issue on some cameras and there were no markings on the plug to indicate orientation. If not for that little glitch I would be giving this 5 stars.

Easy to use remote to use the the NIkon camera. I keep it in the bag with my accessories. I could simply plug this in to the camera even in low light it was so simple. Be a bit careful with the button, as I had a tendency to push it forward instead of down. As always it arrived quickly from Amazon and was just as pictured and as I expected.

I don't like the light and lock button being the same but the product works flawlessly. The ruber casing around the wire from the remote to the DSLR is starting to crack at the base of the remote. Granted I let it hang by the cable but with how light it is this should not be an issue. if it does break with additional use I guess I get what I pay for.

This was the cheapest cable release i could find for my camera, it does the job for the most part. Sometimes it sticks and won't go off, but that is about 1 in 20 times. Decent product foe a decent price.
