I'm using this in an indoor application on a small amount of weight. I used a hammer to close the ferrules, and made a few dents in my carpet doing so. Don't try to close these on a piece of wood. It's strong enough that it will just bite into pine--of course! It is metal after all.

After closing the ferrules, it's held up my 1/8" cable pretty well. I put enough tension onto the cable to keep an 8" length of it pretty straight against my ceiling (with curtains attached), and the ferrule isn't giving anytime soon. Overall satisfied.

Other ferrules I have used are generally a zinc plated copper, and I was worried about the comparable strength of an aluminum ferrule.

I still don't know how much better the copper ones are (if at all), but my application wasn't very demanding and the price was right for this big bag. Worked out great.

We use 1/8" steel cable on our trailer door closers. I bought 50 of these ferrules from Amazon because they had the best price. As far as the quality, a ferrule is a ferrule and they worked as good as any other ferrule.

They're cheap, they work well, and arrived in 2 days with Prime. Also, no swaging tool needed. Just crimp the ends with locking pliers and you're good to go.
